Okay so I just took about a month off from running. I still have winter and spring eligibility left over so I'm going to be using it at a local D2 school and get some grad schooling paid for.
Anyway, the school is in the middle of some sort of coaching debacle so I can't really ask the coach for any advice. What would be the best way to start coming back. I'll probably hit 35 miles this week...I just don't want to be embarassed come January. That gives me 8 weeks.
I was thinking of something along the lines of this
Week 1: 35 miles, strides once
Week 2: 40 miles, 1 hill workout, strides once
Week 3: 45 miles, same
Week 4: 50 miles, same
Week 5: 55 miles, 1 strides, 1 hill, 1 Tempo
Week 6: 60 miles, 1 strides, 1 hill, 1 fartlek
Week 7: 65 miles, 1 strides, 1 Tempo, 1 fartlek
Week 8: 70 miles, 1 strides, 1 threshold ( tempo on track), 1 fartlek
I just kind of threw that together. Feel free to tear my workout plan apart. Is it too ambitious? I'll be stretching, doing core, and icing throughouly.
I almost feel like it might be too late to put a winter season together. I feel like I can come back quickly though
