I'm running Living History Farms this weekend. I've run the race before, and know that the creek crossings fill your shoes with mud and water.
When I've run the race competitively, I've had good luck wearing steeplechase spikes.
However, I'm running this year with some slower friends who I've promised that I won't leave no matter how slow they go.
I don't want to run 730 pace in spikes, and I Really don't want to run 900 pace in spikes (both possibilities) I also don't want to run in mud-filled shoes. So I've thought of the following solution.
I'm going to wear my roomiest pair of shoes. I'm going to wear a very thin sock, then I'll put plastic grocery bags around my feet, taping them around my ankles. This should keep water out. I've also thought about hosing my shoes down with scotchguard. Suggestions?
