F1 is very, very demanding. Intense focus and coordination, super high G-forces sustained for like an hour, and you're sweating bullets the entire time, strapped to a rocket. Brakes are HEAVY and lots of work. The average person would hurt themselves trying to drive an F1 car, probably seriously hurt their neck.
Watch Hammond take a spin in a car. He's a way better driver than 99.99% of the world, even though they poke fun at him for being slow. He's absolutely struggling and can't even get it up to speed. The average distance runners are nowhere near strong enough to handle one of those. The average distance runner has nowhere near enough coordination and reaction time to handle one of those.
