Wondering what team had the most sub 5 milers as we near the mid point for most state's seasons.

Thought we were talking Girls. Why is sub-5:00 a barrier still for Boys?
mead high school
it shows good coaching and culture. depth is something that is looked for in a good hs distance team because it shows that that team has something more than just talent.
on other terms, there should be at 5 or 6 teams in utah with 20+
Herriman, American Fork, Riverton for sure,
Maple Mountain, maybe Viewmont, maybe maybe Alta but probably not
Mountain View, Orem, maybe Timpanogos
Springville also has a good group of boys
Maple Mountain- 21
Herriman- 19
From a quick glance at just Utah
Wayzata has a lot
Rocky Mountain Idaho has 22, and that’s without land in Hemeyer who’s run 859 and 410 who’s only done a 3200 this season
Not sure about sub 5 but Monta Vista highschool in CCS definitely has the most sub 4 milers
Every respectable college team has 15 guys that could do it before 8 miles straight.
i was at at the trabuco hills distance carnival in orange county last night and the announcer mentioned that trabuco had the record last year for most sub-5s in the nation (31 according to athletic.net, but they don't register any others that may be hand-times at dual meets). not sure how to verify if that's the most; they currently have 28 this season. for reference, though: great oak had 42 in 2019...
i would think this just reflects participation/rules. think about a 3 per event state. if you look at southlake carroll they are a good XC team but mediocre at TF because they lose the advantage of sheer numbers, 3 entries per event, they don't tend to produce the fastest kids, no sprints, no hurdles, no field, not many team points even locally, maybe get someone to state in mile or 2 mile to finish like 7th. that's why i am saying depending where you live the value of producing above average but not exceptional distance talent in bulk may be limited. southlake will have dozens of kids for practice, but 7 at XC then 3 per event at TF.
vs. if you can run endless open entry varsity rosters. those kids in TX would either skip TF or be dumped to JV.
where i came from we have this same rule and one kid is over 5 down on frosh team. but outside of XC there isn't incentive to produce as many TF miler types. it skews the numbers and incentives.
Niwot has 18. They have 20 if you account for altitude. Only 1 senior on that list (#14).
downers grove north in Illinois has 24
they would destroy mountain view in a dual meet #rolled
We had 27 about 5 years ago. Fastest was only 4:18.
Wayzata had 40 in 2009
Wayzata - 22 this season
This does not include (at least) 4 guys that are still in HS who have run a sub-5 in previous seasons
My school, Redondo Union High School has 27 sub 5 guys right now (I just made it on the list) so I'd safely say we are pretty high up there
Yo I was there too how'd you do? I got 4:57 in the 1600
