I've been known to carry around $3,000 to $5,000 with me at all times in case someone breaks into my house. What happens if it's a holiday weekend and my bank account is seized I can't get any money out and my wallet is gone? I can always fall back on my bag of cash that I have with me all the time. Anyone else do something like this?
Like it's a random weekend and you need money real bad for some severe emergency. Your wallet has been stolen, the bank is seized your bank accounts, and you don't have a penny to your name and you need to pay for some major repairs real quick. Does anyone keep a stash of cash with them hitting somewhere. A large amount?
Well the institution is capable of stealing or freezing anyone and everyone's money if it's in bank accounts. They are evil. But also, if you're always carrying cash in large amounts, the wrong person/people could make you a target for robbery. Myself? I sometimes carry large amounts of cash and other times no cash on hand. This undulation minimizes me as a target though. I always have my guard up if necessary, prepared to defend myself. I'm not one to just give up the cash, I'd never do that. You'll have to hurt or kill me to get it out of my hands as I'm a degenerate who does not give a damn and the wrong one to rob.

I keep all my money in crypto and it's stored safely on my digital crypto wallet. Nothing to steal, I just have to remember the password to the digital wallet.
First, most likely a troll, but I am waiting on a call so some time to kill.
You are nuts. Ok let's say you want to keep a stash of cash. Invest in a safe at home then, but physically carrying that around is insane. Better chance of you just losing it.

Why not have a stash of $1000 all in 20s for an emergency?
and what happens to your $$ thousands if the police pull you over and rightly or wrongly suspect you of being a drug dealing (for carrying so much $)...they seize it. ANd good luck trying to get it back.
this is not a smart move.
better to put in a safe box somewhere (buried in the ground)
In the US, this would seem crazy. Only criminals bank accounts get seized in the US.
It's not just your bank account being seized that's the problem. I once had my bank cash a check that wasn't mine in my bank account and it put my bank account thousands in the negative. I didn't have access to any cash for a week until it all got sorted out.
I know someone else who had something similar happen.
And I know another person whose bank accounts all got frozen temporarily because of some fraud/identity theft problem.
In all three cases it ended up OK in the long run. But for a week, none of us could get any cash out of the bank.
So there are plenty of reasons why your bank account would all of a sudden not have any money in it, besides a seizure.
Plus another time I was in a blackout, and none of the stores credit/debit card machines worked because of no electricity and the stores were only accepting cash.
I don't carry around $3,000 - $5,000 in cash because that's too much. But I do have some extra cash around for emergencies.
