Maybe the Young Twins’ ineligibility was a different issue, namely abandoning their high school team altogether in order to run under Sean Brosnan.🤷♂️
easy now, I'm a huge Leachman fan and have watched her race in person many times. that said, a college field of 16's is faster than she usually races with on the track.
personal opinion I'm not feeling a record for her tonight, pacing and upper 60's. I predict 15:50.
Why do people make posts based on assumptions? No, there won't be a good pace, because none of the college runners are anywhere as good as Leachman is. Leachman will be running solo most of the race.
Do you have any idea how few female college runners in the country can run a 15:25 5k? Very, very few. And none of them are in tonight's race.
As far as running solo goes, Leachman just ran an indoor 5k in 15:28 running solo most of the race. She also broke the national 3200 twice, and ran solo both times. She is used to running solo.
As long as the weather is good, she should be able to break the record.

You just don't get it, so let me explain. Leachman has already run 15:28 on the track. The high school girls at Nike indoors couldn't break 16 minutes, and the college women at the Texas Relays also can't break 16 minutes. It's no different.
In both cases, it's Leachman competing against a bunch of runners who are much slower than her. It makes no difference if her competitors are in high school or college. Leachman will be running most of the race on her own. It has no effect on her whatsoever if she is 10 seconds, 20 seconds, or 30 seconds ahead of second place. Most of this race will be a solo run by Leachman. I'm not sure why that is so hard for you to understand.

Jesus you have anger issues, take a breath. We’re all fans of hers. We all want to see her do well. Just having a fun casual discussion. If you can’t post on a forum without blowing your blood pressure out, maybe you shouldn’t.
I think all of us would like to see her break the record, but that will have to be cooler conditions and someone to work with. That’s not tonight.

I don't have any anger issues. You just keep making things up and I'm correcting you. You should learn not to make things up.
She has already broken the indoor 5k record without having anyone to work with. And she has broken the 3200 record twice without having anyone to work with.
And as you can see, she once again broke a national record all by herself.
Wow, what a roll this kid is on...like Henry Rono at wsu.
More importantly how did all the 16 minute girls run...were they a factor?
Second place was exactly 16:00. Not sure about the splits. And ESPN decided not to show the women's 5k race in order to show events that happened several hours ago. Bad decision by ESPN.
I guessed wrong, but I’m even more of a fan now. think what she can run on a cooler day and company.
We are finally agreeing on something. I agree that she can run faster than 15:25.
The problem is that finding a 5k in cooler weather and with fast runners, that also fits in with her schedule, isn't easy.
But there should be a few fast 5k's in May for pros who are looking for a qualifying time for the Olympic Trials.
But now that Leachman has the national high school record and a time that should get her into the Olympic Trials, she might not do another 5k until the Olympic Trials. We'll have to wait and see what her and her coach decide.

I'm not sure she makes the Trials with this result, but I'm also not really following women's 5000m rankings past the ones with the auto Q of 15:10.

The top 30 women qualify for the 5k for the Olympic Trials. And a few of the top 5k women will decide to only run the 1500, or only the 10k, or only the steeplechase.
