50? 100? I ask because I just realized my push up count is (embarrassingly) much less than 50 and I'm looking for a goal level to target.
If you’re aged between 18-50, 50 is the standard.
Taller and heavier people are at a disadvantage. We runners should aim for 50. I've always been weak (never bench pressed more than 145) but at age 58 I was able to do 30 fitness gram slow push ups with my students.
I could do well over 200 in one set, back when I cared about it.
It's an interesting challenge, because at that level it's primarily aerobic - but unlike running, gravity is against you and wins in the end. There is no rest position, no way to slack off and recover a bit
it depends on your bodyweight so the question doesn't really make sense if you are inferring a 'real man' to be strong. skinny runners should be able to do a lot more than professional strongmen because they only have to push 50kg whereas the strongman will have to push 150kg.
i weigh 65kg and can do about 45 slow, proper pushups.
I think that 10 good pushups is totally fine for someone just randomly dropping and giving them a shot. If they are a part of your regular workout routine, then maybe 30+ or so.
