I decided I’m going to go ahead and run Boston even though I spent 3 weeks of no running due to injury after my 1:27 half on Jan 20th. I eased back into running about a month ago with 3 days of 4-6 relatively easy miles.
I have finally put together 2 decent weeks of ~32-36 miles (5 runs per week) with a couple workouts. I ran 10 miles on Saturday which is the furthest I’ve gone since Jan 20th. No lingering injury issues at this point, but my fitness is still not where it was 2 months ago.
My plan is to keep it up. Go for 14 mile long run this weekend, 16 miles the following and 18 miles the Sunday 8 days out from the race.
It’s going to be a fun run at this point, though likely a miserable run. My original goal was 3:05 and I’m thinking about resetting to 7:30/mile pace.
I’ve done Boston many times but it’s been 9 years since the last time and not sure I want to go through all the logistics of re-qualifying and getting hotel/airfare, babysitters for the kids, etc.
Is this crazy or a reasonable approach?
