For a girl? YES!
for a boy
It's good. But I wouldn't call it impressive.
Now go do your homework.
Sub-5 is very impressive for an 8th grade boy. If you're just barely under 5, it's impressive but not "Wow, you will definitely win championships and go pro!" levels of impressive. Just keep running and see where it goes in high school
It's very good. Well ahead of where you need to be to be on track for a future scholarship and promising future as a runner!
Ha ha. An 8th grade boy running under 5 minutes in the mile has zero with do with his college scholarship chances.
Yes. Watching 8th grader Nicole Blood run 4:50 for 3rd behind Molly Huddle and Megan Kaltenbach at Adidas Nationals at NC State in '02 was impressive.
Yes it is very impressive.

See, that's exactly why people don't want him to get his hopes up.
4:50’s not anymore, 4:30’s your doing ok

Sub 5 is definitely solid but nobody can predict progression.Even freshman/soph times have limited value as some people run 4:20 and never get faster.

I wouldn't say 'well ahead' to get a scholarship, unless you're talking about D2 or juco scholarship. These days you need to be running under 4:15 to be thinking about getting much of anything, and under 4:10 for a bigger D1 school. An 8th grader running 4:50's isn't at all a lock. I've seen 8th graders running under 4:40 who max out in high school in the 4:20's and don't go on to do anything after high school.
Nico young 5:07 in 8th grade
I would estimate around 500 boys in the US will go sub 5 each year for 8th graders.
It is indicative of significant aptitude as a runner. It is not necessarily correlated to how you will wind up running as a 12th grader.
Is it possible to go from 4:59 1600m, age 13 to 3:29 1500m age 23, Yes. Who goes from 4:59 1600m, age 13 to 3:29 1500m? Numerous factors.
