You don't know what you are talking about. I pay $5.99 a month for peacock $6.99 for NFL network but I am being asked to pay $30 a month for Flotrack. That's a joke. Make it reasonable
While I"m pissed the meet is on flotrack as in year's past we could watch it for like $8, I was thinking earlier tonight, "The proper price for this meet from a capitalistic standpoint is probably like $50."
And $30 recurring is probably worth at least that if not more.
Anyone that is paying to watch pretty much has to and has very inelastic demand and will pay whatever.Netlifx can charge way less as way more people are interested in it. Here it's parents, teammates, and the track diehards.
I'd love to know how much flotrack paid them to get the rights. Could you get 500 people to pay $50 each? I have no idea.
Productio value seems fine for the one race I watched although they couldn't pronounce Tuntivate's name to save their lives.
Rojo criticizing someone for their inability to pronounce a name was not on my LRC bingo card tonight.
I’d definitely stay up and watch it and I’d actually be pretty excited about the race, but flotrack is awful. It costs twice what Amazon/Netflix cost for high school quality production. Honestly, my sons public access football broadcasts when he played JV was done better and those were free to watch.
It makes it so hard to care that I just don’t. Honestly, if no Americans make it in the 10k great, because I’ve never watched any of them race anyway so I’m mostly indifferent, and I’m a huge track fan. Went to Budapest for the WC.

Yes, famously that is how capitalism works with streaming services. The profits all come from the subscription price lol. jk they don’t. They come from selling user data, and advertising mostly. From a capitalist standpoint just charge $1000000 for the stream so one rich guy can buy it! Good business right there way easier to get one guy to buy something than one million!

Not sure how elastic the demand is, but I paid the $5.99, I might pay ~$9.99, but no chance I’m signing up for a $30/month subscription. Also, doubtful I’d pay $50. My interest stops at around $10 plus or minus a bit depending on my mood.
I thought the announcing was excellent. I don’t know their names but they were all (including the on track interviewer) MUCH more knowledgeable than the Peacock and ESPN announcers when it comes to distance running. I have complained about Flotrak in the past and have even cancelled my subscription but after last night and looking at the lineup of meets to come I will probably renew my annual subscription when it comes up.
Talk about an epic 10k! Grant Fisher took home the win in 26:52.04 in the Paris men's 10,000m at Sound Running's The TEN 2024 and helped lead seven additiona...
Flotrack did a great job last night. And remember, you can usually watch the replays. Last night, I skipped the men's 10,000 knowing that I could watch it Sunday morning. And that's what I did.
My primary reason for buying Flotrack was to be able to watch the international (mostly European) meets. Peacock/NBC covers the Diamond League but there is some great action in the Continental Cup as well. Plus, meets like last The Ten are super.
I agree that you are not going to have UK-quality presenters on Flotrack. I sometimes just turn down the volume if it gets too annoying. I believe in one event they even had a post-race interview performed by none other than Coleen Quigley! That was a surprise. But as I've always said about Peacock, paying for Flotrack is money well-spent.
With so few watching events, due to cost, how are you going to get new people to watch and by having them pay for lackluster programming. What if USATF took most of the money paid Max Siegel, I am sure there are others not needed as well, and use that to broadcast meets - even if only on the net
FloTrack is a catch 22 for the sport. On one hand, they charge a high price for their “subpar” content, which fans often reluctantly pay while feeling taken advantage of. However, they provide a service few others are willing or able to do, which is broadcast a variety of events across the sport, thus (in theory) increasing the eyes on events, money flowing into the sport, etc.
People wish they would cease to exist, but if they did, there might not be a broadcast for an event like The Ten at all. So what is it? FloTrack sucks, or FloTrack is “okay”?
This is where people need to get creative if they want to end Flotracks death grip on these kinds of events.
Flotrack pays big money to meet organizers for EXCLUSIVE rights to host meets. It's a corrupt system.
If flotrack didn't pay for those rights, anybody could go and live stream it. They are ruining the sport by making it harder for anyone to access it.
The flotrack announcers are idiots anyway, I'd rather watch a live stream with no sound. Just one guy with a camera from the press box with a cell phone camera is perfectly fine.
Pay big money is a big stretch. They pay them money, which makes it worth their while and they not have to look into sponsors or donations. Hate is a strong word but it may be appropriate for flotrack. USATF.tv is not much better.

Track is one of the most poorly marketed sports only for the fact most fans who want to watch it, can’t watch it. Like even if they made an effort, went online, and paid money, they still can’t watch it. That’s extremely sad. I’m just grateful we get to see a lot of the ncaa’s, USA’s , and World Championship races on YouTube now. Imagine it took until almost 2024 for us to get that consistency of seeing almost all the World Championship races on YouTube.

So you love watching track but you're too cheap to pay to watch it? Then you don't love watching track that much.
People find ways to pay for the things that they love. It's that simple.
People pay $100+ per month on Starbucks because they love it.
People pay $100+ per month on eating out because they love it.
FloTrack is $15 per month. Write down all the things that you spend money on that cost at least $15 per month. See? You can afford $15 per month. You just don't want to. Which is fine, that's your choice. But all the people who say "I love track so much but I won't spend a few bucks a month on it" are annoying.
