She ran the meet of champs at apu yesterday. How was she able to do this? To be clear, I feel she should be able to and I too think hs kids should be able to run unattached track meets. CIF is a joke that hates its own athletes. BUT, I thought the sound meet cost her the eligibility?
No one here really knows what's going on with her CIF eligibility. Hopefully someone got an interview with Sadie after yesterday's race and asked her.

She did violate two rules .
1. you can run unattached in a race with any college athletes. ( Sound Running has multiple college athletes representing their colleges )
2. you can not run a race if the meet offers a HS option. You must run the HS option.

I would assume people on Sadie's team have investigated all the CIF rules nuances and nonsense. But it looks like Sadie is going to run whatever races she wants and let CIF respond accordingly - or not. Good for her.
It's funny that High School athletes can get paid (NIL) but "can't" run in these meets. I think it's time to overhaul all the CIF rules by someone under the age of 60.
If CIF acts, she is really only facing being ineligible for 2 meets for running in the open division of a jointly sanctioned meet. She should expect that if / when they come knocking. But until they come after her, she doesn’t have to turn herself in. Though her own school probably has a responsibility to self report the violation.
Doubtful they could come down on her as treating the sound meet as “running in a collegiate meet”.
So she has not really done anything that forfeits her high school eligibility yet.

She ran Sound Running and violated two rules. It will take a week, but I know many coaches that were forced to follow the rules. She won’t get an go free pass. The repercussions will come before Acadia and she won’t be able to run for the track season 2024
Elite HS athletes like Sadie, the Young bros last year, Sahlman, etc, losing eligibility once they enter a pro-sanctioned meet is 100% fair and reasonable.
It does not make it fair to other high-level high school kids who may not have the privilege to be racing against pro's like how Sadie can. That's like throwing a professional runner in a field of high school athletes.
Not to mention Engelhardt, Sahlman, the Youngs, etc had hardly any competition anyways. HS season is in fact a waste of time for them. Makes more sense for them to kickstart their careers

You may be right that HS competition is a waste of time, but your first point is ridiculous. Doesn't make it fair? Getting into pro meets isn't what makes Engelhardt or NP kids better than the rest of CIF. They are getting into pro meets because they are already better. They are kids enrolled in CIF high schools, they should be allowed to compete for just that reason alone.

And that's my exact point. Why should one kid who's able to race professionally, be able to race against other kids who can't? That makes no sense. If they're already good enough to put their talents among the professional field, there's no reason why they should still be allowed to race among less-skillful highschoolers in highschool meets. Putting the two together makes no sense

So you think we should penalize kids for being too talented?

I'm not saying they should be penalized. It's about fairness. How is it a penalty when it's ultimately their own decision to race among collegians and pros OR retain their HS eligibility?

She's the biggest name in CIF Track & Field right now. If they were going to do anything they would have contacted the school and already done it before she represented them at a meet. It's over, you lost.

Oh really? You know "many" track coaches that had to deal with this same situation?
Please list all the CIF coaches you know who had one of their athletes compete in a pro track race and then had their athlete suspended from CIF races. Thanks.

What you don't have pro HS kids on your team? Most of us have them all the time.

HAHA! I guess we know who's been doing all the posting about breaking CIF rules. Get a job and stop worrying about high school kids.

If the rule says the first violation of competing unattached results in missing two meets it would seem to make sense for anyone wanting to do this to just put two meets on the calendar ahead of any meets you want to do. Brian Clay seems doable for highschool athletes if they put a dual meet on calendar and miss the next weekend of highschool invites. Thats two meets “sitting out” and they could still run the horrific rounds of the cif which are geared towards ruining a distance runners season and putting money in cif pockets.
What do you mean "also" ? Sadie has NOT given up her high school eligibility.
CIFSS had a meeting this week after Meet of Champions and she’ll lose her eligibility this season. The official ruling will happen next Friday. They had to wait until she raced a HS race for Ventura before she got the official violation
