A California woman who went into a marijuana "psychosis" and stabbed her boyfriend 108 times will not serve any prison time for manslaughter, a judge ruled.
Yep, all groups have things/areas in which they are given leniency or more understanding than other groups get when they do the same thing. 21st century thinking has largely been to forget that.
Surely there are sources that aren't behind paywalls.
So, not knowing if the guy died, if he didn't then it's fortunate most women aren't very good at stabbing. Or maybe it was a pointy thing from her purse, like a hairpin. 108 times is a lot of stabs to not die from.
However, her fancy lawyer told the judge that the weed caused her to be unconscious during the stabbing. Said that because she was unconscious when the stabbing occurred, that's why she was not guilty of murder.

The argument used was that she became psychotic, not unconscious. Psychosis means you lose touch with reality, and it is a justifiable and often successful defense. OTOH, she took two hits from her boyfriend's bong. And she also tried to stab herself in the neck.
People react to different drugs differently, but it is extremely uncommon to hear about people having psychotic episodes from Marijuana. (She was also given a trial that contains details we don't know, fwiw.)

No, it was a jury, and not the judge, that convicted her of involuntary manslaughter. The judge’s role was sentencing and he could have given her up to 4 years.
You think it was murder? What was her motive?

okay, so normally when you are so psychotic that two bong rips make you viciously stab and murder someone 108 times, they still lock you up for a very long time. Except the prison is called a "mental hospital"

Judge, I’m not guilty because I chugged a fifth of vodka and was blind drunk and couldn’t see all the people I mowed down on the sidewalk.
