Wilson has a perfect GPA, is religious and has a great support system around him so there is literally nothing that warrants any premonitions about a Tyrese Cooper story.

I dont get your point? We should pay MORE attention now because he ran slower this year than last year? Once again, wake me up when he runs 44.5 and is a medal contender. His results so far this year don't cut it for me yet.
You still need 3s. Sub 1:49 indoors for a high schooler is fast. It is possible but a 1:52/1:53 would still be solid especially for a guy who doesn’t run a lot of 800s. Again with HSers you never know. Those slow guys could drop 1:55 and they are right there. Hopefully they give it a good scare.
They can certainly go for the record, but I'd think its a long shot. I'd put the over/under at 7:45 or so.
I've known Quincy for several years and have had the opportunity to work with him on the track. I can't stress enough how great of a kid he is. His family is super-supportive and he has a really strong group of people around him that keep him grounded. He's a "yes sir," "no sir" kid all the way and takes the time to check in on others. He's also incredibly intelligent and works harder in the classroom than he does on the track.
If you are looking for someone with strong character and a matching work ethic to be the face of USATF for a long time, this is your guy.
Maybe he's the next Quincy Wilson.
I mean, let him be his own thing. Why should we compare him to others? Quincy's been running well, and was really close to Will Sumner's 500m record, set as a senior in HS. He's got a few more years left to set some HS records of his own.
Glad to hear he has a great support system and is doing well in school. Keep it up.
1:59.37 -> 1:53.13 -> 1:58.91 -> 1:59.30. I don’t know the order. They had no competition after the first leg which likely didn’t help make matters easier. But that time with 3 sprinters is still very impressive.
Yes. A very good result. Some great young runners.
Quincy was the last leg. You could tell they weren’t going to get the record early in, but also by how QW got out. He went out slow. I wonder if he has a cold? let’s see how he does in the 300m. That said, the team wasn’t close to breaking the record. However the hype got me to tune in 😁
His form is a limiting factor to his potential. He certainly must be training hard and is a tough competitor to run that fast with that form.
That splits have him going out in 25/30 and dying.
Fair. It looked slow to the eye, but your right on the splits. I thought he had more endurance than that and would run 153-154. Maybe it wasn’t his day.
I'm guessing that Quincy's motivation to push his limits in an unfamiliar event was pretty low given that they had no competition and no shot at the record. I wouldn't read much into that performance, but it was pretty silly for Joe Lee to think that 7:36 was possible with a team of sprinters
fast 600's is not always a good indicator of 800 results
33.12 in the 300m. Not sure what the sophomore class record is but a pr of 1 whole second. He got beat by a junior who went 32.92. I’m not sure how his 300 and 500 convert to 400 but Quincy might be close to sub 46 indoors shape.
Wake me up when he runs 44.5 🙄🙄
It converts to about 46.90, a solid 2nd place effort after running a relay.
Quincy is a great young runner. It remains to be seen if he can develop the speed that LaShawn has, and it would be difficult for anyone to match LaShawn's accomplishments. With Quincy's speed, young age, 500m and 600m times, it looks like he may develop into the best 800m HS runner of all time. Maybe the 400m too. Post HS it gets more difficult to project but he certainly has shown great ability and potential to excel so far. His PBs are amazing.
Still just 15 yrs old. Not sure how tall he is now but he could add 3" before he's done.
Not a lot of guys (his age) lining up to race him.
Quincy just dropped a 45.76 at New Balance Nationals. That's a high school and U20 record.

Are Asics, Saucony, and New Balance envious of Brooks, Hoka ,and On?
