When talking about very young athletes ,I am always cautious about putting too many expectations on them. Quincy Wilson is the next rising high school star as he is only a sophomore. My concern as always is 2 things and especially for this young man is ,# 1. His exposure and in this instance to much exposure when it comes to his over racing at such a young age of 15 to 16 years old. He runs a full indoor as well as a full outdoor schedule already which includes some traveling as well as wear and tear on a young persons body . #2 This is were the Obea Moore comment in my post comes into my thought process. A 400m runner at the world class or even elite colliegate level has to have long levers. Most 400m runners are at least 6 feet to 6' 2" or even taller to be effective at the world class level. I know that there has been a small few that have produced at an elite level that were shorter than 6 feet. This young man still looks very young and hopefully will have a growth spurt over the next few years. If he does have a growth spurt and can be not overexposed( too many races) then he could very much be the male version of Sydney Mc and that would be very very exciting for US track and field. I hope his coaches and support group can plan his races out and not over race him during his HS years. Do you all agree with my early observation on this very very talented young person...
