A tragedy avoided thankfully.
Lawyers of Letsrun, who would have been on the hook if this had been slightly different?

You can clearly see in the video the runners have the red traffic light and they blew through it. The bus is driving legally. The runners are clearly at fault.
Why is the road not blocked off?
WTF? Who organizes a race in NYC and doesn't stop through traffic?
🙄that’s your question?
How about focusing on what went wrong and what can be done to prevent something like that happening again?
How do you think all the servant workers cleaning the porta-potties and working in the restaurants are getting to work?
In the sage last words of my uncle, "oh no... a bus."
Was this road not blocked off at all? There were a couple youth races that started before the elites.
This could have been a disaster for the NYRR.

The operator and owner of the bus and the race organizers if the course was not properly closed off.
Are we 100% sure that bus driver was not a Livestrong 55+ year old beer gutted road biker?
Two of the three motorcycles stopped.
However all of the runners kept going, while checking their watches.

The NYRR doesn't pay any of the course marshalls. What do you expect when the NYRR just leach off everyone expecting free labour while their CEO makes hundreds of thousands?

What is the Olympic Trials Marathon fiasco? That it is scheduled for noon and a bunch of runners don't want it to be at noon? I'd prefer it to be in the morning but I can see valid arguments why it should be at noon.

5 runners would have been dead. That’s what we need to focus on.
This is nuts. Was the cross street not closed to traffic. The good thing is the bus (which has a green) looks to have been going slow and able to stop. But this is totally nuts.
Sadly ive seen this happen or heard it happened a couple times in road races I've ran. Regardless, it's unacceptable and likely attributed to people (whoever that may be) not doing their job adequately.

Reminded me of "I want to die peacefully in my sleep like my grandfather, not screaming in terror like the crossroads walkers in front of his bus"
