The 3000st has always been the softest event, with those who cannot win medals in the 1500/5000. Only Shaheen and now Girma looks like medal contender in the 5000. But still far from threatening the WR there.
The best tall specialists loose only 25sec from 3000 to 3000st. So again a Komen/Jakob kind of talent who would be great on barriers could run 7:45.
Do your maths in the best way. 3:31:95 in a single mile race in 10 years
Come on, he ran a 3000 in 7:33 just 3 weeks before rabat 7:56. Stop denying the obvious please. Even if you generously give him 3 sec improvment in this lapse of time, he is still far from the top in the 3k.

Stop being biased to your Jacobian, in paper he is no better than Girma and a lot of others runners. He only has better condition and train specifically for some distances.
Maybe time-wise, men's records are more impressive, but that's about it. The female body and history of oppression are a lot more complex.
I’m going with Faith too. From a strictly time perspective, hard to argue that Jakob’s run was not best, but Faith 1) broke this record a week after her 1500 record, 2) broke this record when she hadn’t even run this event in > 5 years, 3) broke the record without even intending to try in the context of an actual tooth and nail race against a true rival and the previous record holder. Of course that also means she got paced for 4400m, but no matter. They were all thrilling, but the Faith Gidey battle was tops.
Lol. Jakob got this record running the 2 mile once! Its not even up for discussion. Gotta be super thick to not just "get" that Jakobs run is far more impressive.
Jakobs's was the most impressive.........however he should have looked tired after that monster effort and not hardly gassed, that is not a good look if you are trying to prove that you are a clean athlete.

Jakob is running 1500-5000, so no running the two mile is not some leap for him. It’s comfortably in his wheel house and everybody knew it. In fact 3000/2 mile might be his best event. Kipyegon only runs the 1500. Her 3000 last year was fair and she lost and she hasn’t run the 5000 in a very long time, with a PB of > 14:30. It was far from clear she could perform like this in a 5000 on her first race, or even win the race, instead she breaks the record without trying to break it (not paced to the record and no lights to the record) and in the process beat the current wr holder. C’mon, it was an amazing feat. Yes, Jakob’s run was amazing too, and as I said, more so based on the pure time alone, but the question was which was more impressive, and for me Faith’s run left a greater impression.
It wasn't even broadcasted in the rest of the world. The WL was almost 10 minutes because virtually nobody even attempts to run such a pointless and obscure distance. WR in standard distances that people actually train for are more significant.
