Just going off, elites, I think you can take 5000m current ability and add 30 seconds and double, to get to 10,000m time.
Geb: 12:39 + 30 = 13:09 x 2 = 26:18. He ran 26:22
Bekele: 12:37 + 30 = 13:07 x 2 = 26:14. He ran 26:17
Chep: 12:35 + 30 = 13:05 x 2 = 26:10. He ran 26:11
For elites it's somewhere from 30 to 35 seconds. Because he is less aerobically developed than any of those, I think is more of a +35s guy so he probably needs to break 13.
He should run more like a Fauble and keep it under control and close hard for a solid 9th place in a forgettable time. We all love the way he runs around here
the standard rule is 2x5k+40-60s. Obviously Cole thinks he is in much better shape than when he ran 13:20 or 27:40. But we haven’t really seen that. Maybe his last 6 weeks have training have gone really well but it seems unlikely and something like 27:30 would be huge

Genuinely curious what pr’s a guy has to make comments like this. Fauble and anyone else out there scraping by financially to maximize their talents and follow their passion is living his/her dream. Tip of the hat to them.
I was just saying for him to realistically run 27:00, he'd have to be a 12:55 guy. Which he is NOT.
Why bust on the dude, he has talent and confidence. If he's healthy (seldom recently) and had good training, nothing would surprise me.
Honestly, I think if he was in 13:05-13:10 shape, he might be close. The 2x5k + 60 sec +/- doesn’t hold universally, especially for aerobic monsters. Mark Nenow went 13:18/27:20 I believe.
He does something that a lot of young people do: begins every sentence with, "So, yeah ...", when no one asked a question. Everyone should stop this trite habit.
Stop doing it along with starting sentences with, "Obviously...", when it isn't obvious for any reason. Also stop with, "At the end of the day ...", every freaking declaration. Unless you are talking about when you brush your teeth, drop that from your vocabulary. It makes you sound like you can't think of anything else.
I think it’s an error in the description of the video posted by Sound Running. It’s pretty obvious they meant to say he’s aiming for the US Olympic Trials standard of 27:45.
