He's had a great career. He is, unfortunately, within father time's grasp now. I'm not discounting him, but I don't have any expectations for an amazing race from him.
I'm not sure if they will be near each other, but it might be kind of fun to see him and Farah repeat their Great North Run finish back in the day.
He should destroy the field. He would of gotten the world record in 2016 and 2019 but he had way less training under his belt then any other elite runner. If anyone else went into a race in ideal conditions but with identical training to what Bekele done in 2016 and 2019 then you would be lucky to see a 2:08. He should get the WR either in London or Berlin if he decides to run it and keep building a base after London. As for the master's WR, he must literally be laughing his head off at how soft it is. He broke it last year with hardly any training and after been injured half the year
Woulda Coulda Shoulda.
I will make this promise right now, to you, and to Bekele: Should he break the world record (not the master's record), I will get a tattoo of a loaf of banana bread that says "GOAT" on it.
Kipchoge is the GOAT and will remain so for some time.
This sounds like an amazing tattoo. Way better than Olympic rings even.
He will be 41 in less than two months. In a recent interview, he said that Kipchoge's record motivates him. He really is a mega-star, but at 41 you just don't run near records anymore. It's beyond my imagination.
