I love him so much but he is looking a little chunky. May God help him be fleet of feet like a eucalyptus leaf and come in top 5 just from sheer talent and no known injury.
So many people have trash talked Bekele but the fact remains he’s the best marathon runner ever for his age. In the past he had the habit of DNF a marathon if he wasn’t running a great race but in recent years he has still gone on to finish even if he has been back several places. My thoughts are he will break his age group masters record for the marathon with a 2:05:10.
He should destroy the field. He would of gotten the world record in 2016 and 2019 but he had way less training under his belt then any other elite runner. If anyone else went into a race in ideal conditions but with identical training to what Bekele done in 2016 and 2019 then you would be lucky to see a 2:08. He should get the WR either in London or Berlin if he decides to run it and keep building a base after London. As for the master's WR, he must literally be laughing his head off at how soft it is. He broke it last year with hardly any training and after been injured half the year
Well whether he's the best marathoner ever with so little training is pretty much irrelevant. What matters is the bottom line, not how you get there there, legally of course !
The only time he put in a real effort was in 2019 when he was beaten into shape by NN in Holland for weeks and put on a proper diet. Sadly and in spite of the amazing Berlin result that followed he became "distracted" again.
This would be ideal. His days of being a legit threat are over. I hope he can leave in a good place, on his own terms

Woulda Coulda Shoulda.
I will make this promise right now, to you, and to Bekele: Should he break the world record (not the master's record), I will get a tattoo of a loaf of banana bread that says "GOAT" on it.
Kipchoge is the GOAT and will remain so for some time.
He's probably past being able to run the world record, but he's capable of winning major races still if things align right. He can still have an average day and run 2:05 or 2:06. He's probably still capable of 2:03 or 2:04, but things would have to go perfectly for that.
