7:30 and takes the win.I think he needs a win in a big international race and this is a good time to get it. A win in this field - irrespective of the time - will be more of a statement than Nuguse running 7:28 in a TT
Time was almost correct; but I think Fisher is just not in form yet. He went for it, but got dropped hard at ~2k. I know we all have an American bias here, but I also think that this was a good reality check.
7:34 for 3rd. First race of the season. BTC not as fit this year at this time compared to previous. Add first race of the year as well. I hope I’m wrong and am pleasantly surprised.
Same type of performance as Elise. One race is hard to judge a trend for either runner. Could be they are showing top fitness relative to previous years and wanted to test it in potential American record races but aren't quite as fresh or sharp as they want to be at this point in the season. Last year Elise dropped an AR in the indoor 5k and solo'd the second fastest 10k for an American in February and March but overcooked it and had to recover just to make the team in the summer.

Yeah yeah, hindsight's 20/20. Given that he already ran a post-peak 7:28 last summer, a prediction of 7:28 and top 3 (which I would say is around the average prediction on this thread) was not unrealistic. After Fisher's year last year, 7:35 would have been an unrealistic guess, but track is always full of surprises.
My experience has been that this handle alone will get this post deleted. Oh well....
He has, of course, run spectacularly at various times although those were primarily during one short period. Anyway, running well in intrasquad time trials and choking big in races is a Bowerman trademark. This guy literally went off course last year.....in a track race!
Of course, they have a history of members who choked regardless of the setting. Derrick and Fernandez come to mind. The sad part is that these guys were good. Were until getting involved with Jerry.
If G Fisher altered his training this winter, then no need to be disappointed. It would be best for G Fisher not to bother to peak for indoors. If G Fisher is training through, that's okay. If I were G Fisher, I would be more concerned about being at peak fitness mid-summer. There's a long list of indoor superstars with no outdoor medals. Hopefully G Fisher saw today's race as a fancy TT.
