Last year they were 3:55.89, 7:45.80 and 13:26.44 respectively
At this point in the season:
1 guy went sub 3:55.89
3 guys went sub 7:45.8
12 guys went sub 13:26.4
I say 3:54.5, 7:44.0 and 13:22 will be required to be in the top 16

Absolutely insane. I know Covid eligibility and supershoes played a role, but typically a sub 4 would be almost at the top
Here is the 16th and final performance accepted into the NCAA Division I meet in the Mile/3k/5k
2022: 3:56.60/7:45.80/13:26.44
2021: 3:59.04/7:58:06/13:46.68
2020: 3:58.45/7:51.00/13:40.99
2019: 3:59.36/7:51.91/13:41.21
2018: 3:58.28/7:53.37/13:46.71
For the women
2022: 4:35.22/9:01.31/15:41.56
2021: 4:40.89/9:17.43/16:06.50
2020: 4:37.55/9:07.19/16:04.15
2019: 4:36.67/9:03.22/15:42.13
2018: 4:38.65/9:05/81/15:47.23
Interesting how the women's marks for 2022 are not historical outliers....indicating that supershoes may not be the largest factor here
I think they will be quicker but no the crazy jump we saw from 2020/2021 to 2022. I do think after last years craziness to scramble getting qualifying marks, most coaches are targeting specific meets to run really quick. Also assuming these times are the overall top 16 and not the 16th person to get into an event, bc guys like Robinson and Sprout probably won't end up doing the mile even though they may qualify for it.
My rough estimations are
Mile: 3:56.2
3000m: 7:44.8
5000m: 13:22.00
I think it’ll be a little slower than last year. Super seniors from COVID had an impact. Maybe 3:57/7:48/13:28
12 guys at 13:26 and a few fast guys haven't run but you think it will be 13:28?
The men's times seem pretty consistent and then made a huge jump from 21 to 22, but the women have been more or less in line with historical averages.
For the women, 22 times are closer to 18/19 than 20/21. Is this covid or something else? Not sure what to make of it.
Shoes. The supershoes are designed to compress the foam while bending the plate simultaneously at a particular pace. The pace was designed for elite males. The female versions of the shoes are merely a resized version. So a woman wearing a size 10 while running 15:30 for 5k is the same shoe that a guy wearing size 9 is wearing while running 13:30.

Pulling these purely out of thin air: 3:55.11, 7:45.02, 13:23.68
Women: 4:34.25, 8:58.92, 15:36.66
Agreed, but I think sub 3:58 sub 7:50, sub 13:30 will be the new norm for NCAA. 3:59 is way to common in the mile now.
The times seem to slow for '21.
2021: 4:40.89/9:17.43/16:06.50
4:37.17/9:07.17/ 16:01.26 were the 16th fastest performances. No way the 33rd performer in the mile and 31st in the 3000 made it in.
No superstars have run the 3000m at this point and yet…
1-Lumb: 7:43.2
2-Messaoudi: 7:44.2 (12th NCAA XC)
3-Hamlin:7:44.6 (119th NCAA XC)
There were 23 non seniors who ran sub 7:50 last winter (the three guys above were not one of the 23).

That was the year the XC championship and indoor championship were a few days apart. Most distance athletes opted to be fresh for the XC championships or didn’t even compete indoors so it was easier to get in to the indoor national meet.
That makes sense.

Is the theory that supershoes were designed for men, and work for men (but not women)? I have not heard that before.

6 guys went sub 7:44.8
13 guys went sub 13:26.44 (all at BU)
…not there yet, but in 3000m for example, the following runners have not attempted the Q yet:
Hicks (RS)?, Jacobs, Robinson, Maier, Fay, Clinger, Blanks, Wolfe, Rodriguez…
