Context: I am a decent high school runner who ran a 16:30 5k while also playing on the soccer team. (~60km per week if we include games as mileage)
Current training: I run every day and strength train every few days (Lunges, calf raises, core work, etc). Most of my training consists of easy runs on a treadmill. For workouts I used to play soccer games (80 minutes) and went to the weekly school xc practice (mostly intervals on the track). But since the school soccer and xc seasons are over I am entirely doing easy runs in base preparation for the track season.
Problem: I find that I never feel out of breath during races while people around me are gasping for air. Thus I only breath through my nose for the entirety of most races.
Despite this, I cannot run any faster despite pushing myself hard.
Question: I don’t really have a proper coach and none of my friends/family run. Thus I humbly ask for training advice/sessions that would help me improve.
