I 100% agree with your argument that Coe is a greater middle distance runner than Ovett and Cram. I have a problem with your assumption that Rudisha and Kipketer were aided by EPO while Coe must have been squeaky clean.
C'mon man, that's one of the most ridiculous things I've read here if you're suggesting that Coe should be ranked below Ovett, Cram and Jakob at middle-distance on the basis of never running the 2000m.
Two 1500m Olympic golds (only man in history), two 800m silvers, 800m and 1000m world records that stood for over a decade (and are both probably the fastest times ever recorded without EPO), and the only man in history to hold the 800, 1000, 1500, mile WRs simultaneously, still only man to run under 1:42 and 3:30? The only man who comes close is Snell, and to be frank, he doesn't come close.

Coe never ran one world class race at any distance above one mile.

How can he be better than Ovett? Jacob?
Absurd
Said Aouita was world class at 800m, 1500m, one mile, 2000m, 3000m, 2 miles, 5000m and 10,000 m
Coe was world class at 800m, 1000m, 1500m, and one mile.
Coe never did anything in terms of world class racing in any distance above one mile.
Not even in the 2000 meters.
Too limited a range to rate above (among Euros) Steve Ovett, Steve Cram, Jacob I.

Coe would clearly loved to have one Olympic 800 gold, let alone Snell's two - as well as Snell doubling the 800 and 1500 at the same Olympics. Twenty years apart between these two athletes, it isn't about times.

Yeah and Rudisha never matched Drew Hunter’s 13:17 5k.
I doubt that Jakob has sufficient raw speed to go faster than 3.28. He is relatively slow over the 800. He could never go 1.44 - which is what it would probably take. Furthermore, it would take more than today's micro-dosing to go faster than 3.28; for anyone to get near El G's 3.26 it would have to be in circumstances where there was no test for EPO and runners could dope without restriction - as it was when the records were achieved from the late 80's till 2003.
No shame in that but Jakob is turning 22 in a week and I see him limited in his turnover which means he will likely not run faster at 1500m than he has. Then he will probably continue to be a sub 13 and sub 27 man who occasionally wins a global championship for a few more years. This is his ceiling, so best possible personal bests would be 12:40 and 26:25. A pretty good career one might say.
You are a site shill to start dumb threads or you're just dumb. Either way, you are wrong about Jakob. Idiot.

Coe had a bad race in Los Angeles, tactically, and he's admitted it. Let it go loser.
You should google "middle distance". It begins with 800m and ends with 5000m.
And Coe was not world class at 2000m, 3000m, 2 miles, and 5000m.
So how could he be a better middle distance runner than Aouita? Ovett? Jacob?
Versatility is just a part of the greatness factor, and not necessarily a big one.
I'd say greatness consists of several things, like amount of OG and WC medals, number of WRs, level of dominance and the length of the career. Then maybe versatility.
So it is hard to compare athletes, as some can have more medals, but no WRs (Farah), and some more records, but less medals (Ovett).
Rudisha holds a very impressive WR, has two olympic golds and two WC golds, as well as dominance over his competition over a span of 7 years, excluding injury year in 2013.

Jakob was definitely in shape to go at least a little under 3:28 in 2021. What's more is that you do not need 1:44 to be this fast. Lagat gave several legit attempts at the 800 and could not break 1:46. THough maybe you can say this is EPO.
I am as big a Jakob fan as anyone, but I tend to agree with OP. Unless Jakob drops his 400/800 times significantly, he just doesn't have the leg speed to run 3:25. His wheelhouse is 3k/5k and perhaps eventually 10k. Nothing good or bad about that, just the truth.
I enjoy it when arrogance exceeds intelligence. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and your personal performance. Doesn't make your opinion more accurate than mine. Jacob has to declare his record attempt. If he decides to attempt it. But you're opinion is as credible as mine and it's not more accurate because you broke a 5 minute mile (if ever). It's an opinion and yours is no more accurate than mine or anyone else on this message board. Jacob controls that attempt. Your arrogance shows. But if you would like for us to witness your world record attempt in a race to gain credibility. Please announce it here for us to follow. Welcome to the world of hobby jogging.

And another bad race in Moscow. Bit of a pattern. But no one cares about excuses. Except losers.
