The Nike Prefontaine Classic sent some people to Zürich to observe since the Wanda Diamond League finals will be at Pre in September.
Where in downtown Eugene could they hold a street meet, or would Pre take the meet to downtown Portland or even on the Nike campus before holding the main portion of the meet at Historic Hayward Field?
I liked it, maybe not ideal for a final but more interesting than your normal road or track 5k. They should try experimenting with it throughout the season
I don´t think Fisher -without his rail accident - would have beaten Krop at the worlds. Krop was already ahead before the accident and was finishing well.
Lol Kipkorir Kimeli to me sandbagged that one to perfection. Indoor track style racing. Maybe holding back in Brussels was by design? Had that extra juice today that others didn’t.
What?! KK was the first to fall back (perhaps except for Krop) and I don´t believe thar was on purpose.
KK possibly was on tired legs as most of the runners but he didn´t give up so he manage to come back when Aregawi was fading. And drawing an also tired Fisher with him.

Hard to ever know what's in these guys' heads. They interviewed him after the race and I'm sure something might've been lost in translation but he basically intimated he hadn't been training too seriously or specifically for this race and indicated he wasn't at top fitness. I do agree that yes he might've been struggling at the early pace, which he said as much.
The sandbagging thing I meant more to say a lot of runners (like Kejelcha) would force themselves to stay with the pack even when feeling not great. Kipkorir Kimeli seems to have a nice habit of not forcing it and then picking up the pieces even when he might not be at his best fitness/most trained. On the days he feels good/most ready he doesn't let gaps form. One thing he will need to learn is how to manage energy better in championship races because even though I think he was in tiptop shape at Worlds he was just doing waaaay too much work to fight for position early on in both rounds.
I have a selective memory that remember only important things.
Now grow up.
And you think those digits are important?
They are also not correct, but...
An arrogant French that get concerned by Mekhissi record?
Today the Tunisian Ons Jaber will probably crush the French C. Garcia in the Semi-final of US Open and I will be tasting the show. For the big please of Charles De Gaulles.

This track is a total joke. Tight turns and the lines don't even look straight. If they are gonna do it like this can they at least invest a little in making the track decent
You make a GREAT point. This track should be for a regular season meet. Not the final.
That being said, if Zurich is the only one putting up the big money and they want this track, then they are getting this track.
I agree.
So you run a series of races on a regulation 400m track throughout the season and then run the FINAL on a make shift track with tight turns and banks the shape of a I don't know what, WTF!!! Seriously, this makes NO SENSE at all. I know the meet promoters are trying to engage the fans and make it more exciting, but this completely up-ends the meaning of a "Track" race. You can still have this event, which is pretty cool but not as the final event which determines WC participation and a boat load of cash.
Rumor has it that the Carlsbad 5k will host the next Diamond league 5000m final.
