Seeing her blast the field like that, it got me to thinking what are some of the best closes in women's history? John Kellogg thinks it may be 55 something? Anyone?
I don’t think 57 is that crazy. I don’t remember the exact specific time, but Sifan also closed in 57 at the 2019 diamond league final (Mind you, she did that in a 3:57 race)

42.1 for the last 300 and let's note the win was at 4-flat which isn't even that slow. Probably equivalent to a man closing a 3:35.0 race in 37 flat?

Great call. Probably worth noting, Hassan didn't have to do any leading until the final 200. Since she wasn't in the lead at the bell she actually probably ran a couple tenths faster. It was more of an all out last 400 (led by Dibaba) then Kipyegon who really began her sprint in earnest at 300m to go.
I have it on good authority that she is just a freak athlete, not doping at all. The fact that she performs comparable to other notorious dopers is purely coincidental.
As many people already mentioned it, Closing a tactical 1500m in 57, is not that impressive. Rojo, please don't diminish what Faith accomplished today by stating useless facts. Today's race wasn't about running fast for Faith, she just wanted to win the diamond League title. That being said, today's race shows Faith can win whether the race is slow or fast. And, I am sure, If somebody pushed her a little bit, she would have closed in a 56.
has both strength and speed... no one has a better combination of 800/1500/3000 PB right now. Tsegay is probably like Jingy in the sense that 5000 is her better distance

Wasn't 56-high, but 57-low/flat according to this video. An all-time great close -

In the 1500 WC in 2015 Genzebe Dibaba closed the last 800 in 1.57x, with a 57-high penultimate lap. Kipyegon incidentally was second and Hassan third. As you say - Kipyegon is in the company of suspected dopers.
It is much easier to close faster on a 5000m race because you’re running significantly slower laps. Once Lagat ran a 50 sec last lap in a 5000m race. Just remember a 5000m race is 100% aerobic, The 1500m race is not.
