He. 2nd or 3rd in talent packed DLs and likely would have been second in the WCs we're it not for the trip. Better than Krop
He's really not. Krop dropped him like a bad habit over the 100 last week, and left him flailing at the World Champs. Not saying it would always be this way, but Krop is better right now
So you think this saves track and field? Really? I gave a great example of one of the most epic races of the last decade (maybe the most epic) and it happened in stadia, in Zurich, over 5000m in the DL final - but you think this format helps "save" track and field.
What about it do you think does that?- love to hear your opinion.

Errr. So Krop was dropped like an even worse habit today. Obviously on the average Fisher is better. C'mon. We all know what happened to Fisher in the champs.

Krop's two best times this year are faster than Fisher's, he has a World silver medal, and a CWG bronze. He also has the number one ranking right now. By no measure is he behind Fisher
Holy Sh*t. Fisher was awesome. He beat Kimeli by 4 seconds in brussels and Krop bombed out here. I got Fisher 2nd now in the world after Jakob. Wow! America is actually a 5000/10000 power now!
Nah. This was what I had for top-7 prior to today’s race:
1. Jakob Ingebrigtsen 2. Jacob Krop 3. Grant Fisher 4. Nicholas Kipkorir 5. Jacob Kiplimo 6. Berihu Aregawi 7. Dominic Lobalu
This is what I have after today’s race:
1. Jakob Ingebrigtsen 2. Jacob Krop 3. Nicholas Kipkorir 4. Grant Fisher 5. Jacob Kiplimo 6. Dominic Lobalu 7. Berihu Aregawi
Another strong showing by Fisher nonetheless. Excluding Jakob, whose racing schedule has been different from the rest, Fisher’s been the most consistent athlete in the event this year.

Very much agree with this. Fisher is 3-1 vs Kimeli this year over 3,000/5,000, but Kimeli's 2 DL wins give him the edge for now. Jakob is #1 until he is beat, and Krop's WL and Silver Medal put him at a clear #2 for this year.

The guy that just dropped out cuz he couldn't handle the hot pace is above Fisher? Ok. Sorry if I missed it but I haven't seen Fisher just give up like that yet . This guy's too soft

He was behind Fisher today, and in Monaco, and would have been at the WC had he not cut in on Fisher hitting Fishers knee.

I think that's a fair ranking based in results. I would still place Cheptegei number 2 in a championship race, and Kiplimo at either 3 or 4, but of course, they haven't raced on the circuit much this year
Track & Field on tracks/in stadiums has not changed in forever. Every other sport has.
And track & field is dying. You think the casual fan will point to Farah diving six years ago, over a quirky 'city' meet open to all? Okay, then. Keep away from the sharp scissors.
That sort of stuff is interesting to us, because we're the sort of people who hang out on a distance running message board. And watch these meets. Everyone else watches America Ninja Warrior. Which changes over time, incidentally.

Fisher was clearly tired today, as were others.
What is amazing is Fishers consistency this year. Consistently in the mix every time he raced and at the highest level in the world.
That takes mental fortitude and big Cojones.
US track and field athletes and fans are proud of you. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to cheer for a US male athlete in distance events at the world level again.
You inspire other US distance runners to know it is possible to smash barriers, defeat the odds and compete with the worlds best.
Don't know how we're a power with one guy competing for a medal, we need multiple sub-13 guys at this point to get there. Could see it with Teare and Hocker, Klecker still is a question mark and Woody seems washed up (Grijalva should also be in this group...)
I would love for Luis to be competing for the United States but he isn't a citizen.
If you can run under 13:05 you should get citizenship (more seriously he's been here since he was a little kid, pretty ridiculous to not have a path for him to get it)

If you watch this video very closely you can see Krop sprint across the track and trip Fisher

Oh, what a season you have had Grant Fisher.
Paul Chelimo has won two Olympic medals (including one just last year!) and one World Champs medal in the last 6 years, and won a DL race in 2018. I would have thought that was quite a lot to cheer for fans of US male distance running
