Tuohy has been “written off” as done on these boards many times over the years. Every single time, she comes back and sets records.

So, we all know she’s dealing with a hamstring injury currently. When she comes back, she’ll be firing on all cylinders and do very well as a beginner Pro.
That, AND she's likely getting the very best medical treatment and therapy available. She wasn't invested in because she would give Adidas a nice race or two before May of 2024. Patience people.
She hasn't raced and her instagram followers have plateau'd at 110k.
Well, she is probably one of the top five most talked about athletes on this board along with Valby, Jakob, Nico and like....Kipchoge or something. So if we consider this board a microcosm of the larger running community (albeit one plagued by bots, trolls, and the like) no, I think adidas is probably fine with it.
No. They don’t care about the race results, they care about the amount of attention she brings to the brand. An average runner with 200k instagram followers brings way more attention to adidas than an elite runner with no social media. Not saying Tuohy is average, but you get the analogy.
Yes. She will be popular for a year or so but then will fade away. The current period of time is highly suspicious. Posters can go on and on accusing Valby wnd Wiley of doping, but one unflattering comment about Tuohy gets a thread locked down. Something smells.

Old Master Li observes... A seed lies dormant, then sprouts. A river ebbs, then floods. Young runner recovers, finds strength again - this is the cycle of things, natural as a sunrise.
But... even mountain is worn down by rain, over time. Each injury leaves a mark, unseen maybe, but there. To run long, one must run smart. Young runner has fire, but fire must be tended, or it burns itself out.

You could always just ask Adidas and perhaps they'll let you know. I live close to their HQ. I'll swing by later today and see if I can find some answers. If I had to guess, they'd probably say that they made a complex business with ROI projections that extend beyond the Spring outdoor season and the 2024 Olympics and that if they listened to anonymous posters with obsessions about athletes they have under consideration for long-term sponsorship deals, they'd probably be a subsidiary brand of Nike by now.

Something with Wiley smells and that’s because where there’s smoke, there’s fire.

If you look at Touhy's gram, you will she that she (or her adidas team) does almost nothing to grow her account. She averages about 1 post a month and seems to post the bare minimum required by her sponsors.
There is a nice recent post from adidas about her trip to Boston with her HS teammate, but little else.
This would lead one to believe that her sponsors are interested in her future (and past) performance and standing in the running community, and not so much her minor social media efforts.
