I'd like to be done if that means being 6 tenths of a second from a 10000m world championship gold.
Well you're not Hassan. Last year she could win these races on one foot. I would have thought after a summer of good training she might start to look like her old self. It sounds like she is not as focused anymore.
They said the track was 517 meters long but Jonathan Gault has determined it is 563 meters as that was showing up on the screen. We've done the math and that appears to be correct based on their lap splits. It shows 8 laps splits and they average up to 14:35 pace assuming it's 563 meters. Then there is part of the 9th lap (which would be faster at the beginning or end).
Anyways what does that mean for the men's 5000?
13:10 is 88.95 per lap 13:00 is 87.83 per lap. 12:50 is 86.70 per lap. 12:40 is 85.58 per lap.

I'd expect to see some really quick times. These guys are used to running anywhere from 57-64 seconds per lap, so having lap times decrease to somewhere between 85-88 seconds per lap should feel pretty easy for them!
Since he’s gone first time at 2.32 he’s really just winning it straight up given the struggles of most guys this year. Barshim was kinda flat today and exciting if JuVaughn takes full advantage. Would like to see if he can get 2.34 or 2.35 next.
It's absolutely ridiculous that they can't show a 5000 meter race in its entirety. Even the announcers on Peacock just mentioned how long they had cut away from the race.
