I’ve heard the argument of “they didn’t celebrate after that huge performance, so they just be a doper.” Why are all dopers considered to be bad, nasty or mean people? I bet many of them are really nice. Being nice doesn’t mean you’re clean. Being a jerk doesn’t make you a doper.
He got caught once and you think he’s the only one who had testosterone in his system? They only caught him using a PCR test. If they ran that test on everyone then more people would be caught. I believe they did the same to Blessing after someone snitched that she was using PEDS.
Coleman may or may not be doping, but I could see him not taking the whereabouts system seriously. Anyway, he served his time and that’s that.
The idea we are even “arguing” about who is or isn’t doping at the highest levels seems silly. Yes, people are doing it but also people are getting popped. I guess I’m just fine with the system as it works. If I spend any more time agonizing over it, then I would just stop watching.
He got lucky that his ban wasn't extended for that.
He also got lucky that he had such a forgiving NADA which spoiled him with warning and courtesy calls.
Last but not least, there is the Drummond connection - during Drummond's ban!
From what I read they call most athletes. They decided not to call him that one time. That wasn’t fair.
Well actually USADA and Coleman misused the phone calls. See for example what the AIU said after the final CAS ruling:
Brett Clothier, Head of the AIU, said: “We welcome the decision in this case. No notice out of competition testing is a fundamental pillar of the World Anti-Doping Code and is only possible with strict enforcement of whereabouts requirements. The decision confirms that athletes must take their whereabouts responsibilities seriously and be present at their indicated location during their daily 60-minute testing slot. It is not sufficient for athletes to be near their indicated location and to rely on being called by the doping control officer. The whereabouts requirements apply to all elite athletes around the world in equal measure.”
And the District Tribunal wrote:
If the athlete does not answer, the DCO may telephone the Athlete to advise him/her of the attempt in the closing five minutes of the 60-minute period. Such a call is not mandatory however, nor should it be used to invite the Athlete for Testing, but rather to potentially validate that the Athlete is not present.
In other words, USADA should have counted it as a missed test each time he wasn't there, whether or not he came back home after their phone call.
So it was fair from AIU without that call, but unfairly lenient from USADA with the calls.
If you guys think that Christian Coleman is doping then he needs to find better dope. He’s the scrawniest sprinter out there. I’m twice as muscular as the guy and I’m a 40 yr oldest distance runner.
I never thought he was doping. I assumed he was just dumb and lazy in regards to his whereabouts testing, but that doesn't make him a bad guy.
I had a friend who had to comply with that explain what she had to do for the where abouts testing thing. It's a real pain. No excuses but I can see someone not complying.
