Congressional committees should not be split up into "sides". They should be committed to gathering facts and making recommendations that are beneficial to the American people.
It's unfortunate that today's congressional committees are only about infighting. This is a major problem with our government.
The January 6 committee is a model for the way all congressional committees should do business.
I have not watched much of the hearings but I believe there is no cross-examination. What kind of a hearing would not allow cross-examination. Those being accused of something should have the opportunity to defend himself or herself. Otherwise, it is not a fair process.
What kind of impeachment hearing would take a vote without hearing the evidence? Remember that one.
Tomorrow -- more info on Trump's communications with violent extremist groups?
That's my understanding. I don't think Trump would have ever had direct communications but I think we will hear evidence of communication through intermediaries.
The interesting part will be to find out how strong this evidence is.

It is now understood that you have watched every minute of the hearings.

Hearings never have cross-examination. Cross-examination is reserved for when you are conducting a trial.
There were a couple of guys in this thread complaining that the 1/6 hearings were allowing in hearsay. I'm serious. They were all jacked up that someone, I think Hutchinson, was testifying about what she had heard said. They even had some memes made up to protest this. It was really weird. I don't think they know what hearsay is or what a hearing is.
Maybe, I'll read back and see if I can find their names. Maybe. I'm a very busy man, and have a lot of stuff to fence to today. I don't have time to be re-reading old threads trying to identify idiots. I'm not saying that it's not important to out idiots wherever they may roam, just that I'm an extremely busy man.

You have repeately said how busy you are. Many times. If you quit saying that all the time you might have more time. Please quit saying how busy you are. It doesn't seem you are..

Are you saying I need to be more efficient? I got a goddam warehouse full of hot mops and rocks here, and you're telling me I need to take some goddam class on efficiency techniques? You think I'm sitting here twiddling my toes?
I'll get the damn names, okay? The guys who want hearsay out of hearings? I'll get the names of those clods for you. Okay? They are total bozos. They will crack you up. Just give me some goddam time, all right? Jesus.
The FBI had undercover operatives posing as Trump supporters who had infiltrated the crowds during the Capitol Hill riot on January 6, 2021, bombshell leaked documents from the Department of Justice have revealed. The explosive docs reveal that the FBI was running operations on Jan. 6 and had undercover agents planted months before the events took place. According to the “highly-sensitive” DOJ files, the undercover FBI agents noted in their reports that the suspects arrested for rioting were, in fact, innocent. A DOJ whistleblower reportedly leaked the trove of documents and text messages, to the Gateway Pundit. These documents contain incredible exculpatory evidence proving the Justice Department was aware that a group of indicted Proud Boys is innocent but they are prosecuting them anyway.
The outlet uploaded the entire dump of documents here. The files include hundreds of pages of transcripts of audio-recorded interviews with an Assisting United States Attorney, FBI Agents, and their “Confidential Human Source.” The Confidential Human Source, or CHS, infiltrated the Kansas City Proud Boy Group for over a year and a half before the January 6th event and kept the FBI informed on the group’s activity. A source familiar with the FBI informant has identified him as James Ehren Knowles. According to the source, Knowles had gained the group’s total trust and was included in all group communications.
The informant told his handlers at the FBI that the Kansas City Proud Boy Group he was infiltrating and accompanied to the Capitol on January 6th “were not involved in, nor did they inspire the breaking of the barriers at the Capitol building. “CHS describes the scene as the crowd doing it as a ‘herd mentality,’ and that it was not organized. “The crowd was shouting ‘stop the vote,’ as they made their way to the Capitol building… “…There were no overt threats of violence made at that time.” The informant also testifies to the FBI that Proud Boys planned to come to Washington DC to risk their own safety to protect average Trump Supporters from Antifa attacks. They said the group wanted M$GA folk to enjoy the day and “get back to their hotels safely.” Meanwhile, the drinking fraternity, along with the ex-military/law enforcement group the “Oath Keepers,” have become the fall guys along with President Trump for the Democrats’ entire “insurrection” narrative. Many of those arrested on the day have been jailed, despite the FBI informant protesting their innocence. For background, there are currently two existing Proud Boy Group Indictments- the Seditious Conspiracy one involving Enrique Tarrio and other leaders, and the Kansas City Proud Boy Indictment involving the group that the FBI informant infiltrated. The FBI Plant made it clear to his bosses that the Proud Boys and their friends had no idea what they were walking into. There was no conspiracy or pre-planning to enter the Capitol. The FBI reports even revealed that the Proud Boys helped law enforcement inside the Capitol.

Who is being accused of anything? The Committee cannot bring charges, all they can do is make a referral. If the DOJ decides to indict anyone they will get a trial like anyone else accused of a crime.

Fox News senior political analyst Brit Hume feels the January 6 committee investigating last year's Capitol riot is an “utterly one-sided presentation"

I guess we are back to trying to deflect from the facts
Of course, Trump also communicated with them in broad daylight through twitter. It's all there.
Yep.
If it came to light that there was a private email or text message directly to the leaders of the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers, from Trump himself, that said "Stand back and stand by" and later one that gave them a date, place and time and told them to be there and that "it will be wild," it would be considered the smoking gun. But somehow when he did it during a debate and then through Twitter it feels, to some, like less of an act of a treasonous conspiracy.
The fact that he did it in broad daylight should be held against him as much, or more, than if he did it covertly.
Committing crimes in broad daylight is not evidence that the action is not criminal.

The witnesses have repeatedly made allegations. Accusations. All the same.

Your "facts" would be a little bit more "factual" if you would do what everyone else does and provide the source.
It can't be that difficult. You copied all those paragraphs about "explosive docs," "trove of documents," "drinking fraternities," "FBI Plants" and "mullet heads" somewhere. If you at least say where you found it, people can review it and see whether it's something worth reviewing and begin assessing how accurate it is.
Weren't you one of the guys who got all spazzed about hearsay being in congressional hearings?
That's because only one side of the committee is determined to get to the truth. The other is committed to Trump's lies.
How can Republicans get to the truth when they are shut out from the truth-finding process???
Care to share the political affiliation of Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger?
The Republicans had the chance to participate fully and DECLINED. They did so to try to label the committee as partisan. It is not, and the Republican strategy of CHOOSING to sit this out has blown up in their faces. There ARE Republicans on the committee. Unfortunately for the Trumpsters, those Republicans are committed to getting to the truth.
Further, almost every person who has provided testimony is a Republican. They voted for Trump and some have even said they would do so again. But they are also willing to tell the truth while under oath.
What is lacking is people who would try to hide the truth, obfuscate, and bloviate endlessly. And that is what makes these hearings so incredibly effective.
