UKA employing someone in the role below, or taking the £30K plus a year and putting it into prize money for a series of 4 to 6 high quality races for UK athletes?
Creative Media Officer
Salary Between £25,00 and £30,000 per annum
UK Athletics are currently looking to recruit a Creative Media Officer to their Business Development Department, based at our head office, Blythe Valley Park, Solihull.
Reporting to the Head of Communications, the role will be responsible for extending the range and breadth of media activity, giving athletics a broader appeal to the non athletics public and encouraging more people to get involved, either as participants or investors.
Key Responsibilities
· To manage the development of a UKA and Athletics in the UK brand identity, making the overall athletics brand more valuable and desirable to new participants and investors.
· To design a creative media plan that significantly extends the reach of athletics within the non-athletics written and broadcast media.
· To act as the key media contact for the development of athletics stories in the build up to the London 2012 Olympic games
· To manage the planning and delivery of media activation activity linked to commercial sponsorship relationships and as a result generates an income stream for the organisation.
· To edit and manage the ongoing production of (a) UKA News (or similar publication) (b) the UKA annual report.
We are looking for an individual with experience of working in a creative media environment whilst also meeting the key company objectives. They should also have the ability to establish a network of key media contacts in the non athletic-press. The applicant must have experience of developing marketing plans and of brand/image development, whilst demonstrating creative flair and an ability to think outside the box.
