katelyn losing this acc 5000m means she will not lose the next ones, i get the pattern now

If she is healthy then no harm, no foul. But that was a dumb coaching move for peanuts.
but Starliper should have qualified for regionals with 16:01
She did.
Maybe she should focus on the 1500... I don't know she's always been very consistent in her ability from 1500 through 5K... what's soloing of 406 is pretty fast and I wonder if she's naturally better at that distance... after all they've been a few other girls to match her 5K High School time but so far her mile time has not been matched
After a six second pr at 1500m, she should not have run a 5000m two hours later at conference. You take the pr and let her recover and restrict the possible double with more rest at regional/nationals. That is just asking for trouble.
my thoughts exactly... plus shes built more for 1500m-mile-3000m
dont come at me for saying this nonstop, but shes built more-like elle purrier rather than sifan hassan and the ethiopians who dominate 5000m ... and elle purrier is a miler-3k runner
but then i could also be wrong and katelyn could just be a wholenother beast and runs a sub 15 at 20 years old
No. The 5000 is her race. She ran 15:14 and was runner up in the 5000m indoor. I don't read anything into this race coming off a super fast 1500 two hours earlier. There is a reason that double is not viable. She looked exhausted walking off the track. Did not seem worth it for a few team points when the team race was all over.
Chill out. Guys seriously chill out. She doubled last year and was fine and she's a lot fitter now... honestly I'm a little surprised that her 5K wasn't faster because she ran pretty close to that same time last year at a ACC and she doubled
Henes doubled too... anyway I'm sure they'll figure it out at me and they're smart people and but I have to thank you at least take a look at doing the 1500
Nope, NC State currently ranks 3rd for women's team race
we discussed this weeks ago - it is not an easy double. Hocker did it last year but that was a slower paced 1500/big kick and he still was hurting in the 5000. And he is a superior athlete.
Sorry I should have edited that but
Anyway she doubled last year. Savanna Shaw doubled. Bush doubled. I think she'll be fine I just wonder what her best race distance is
My main issue with it was that we are talking about a 20 year old sophomore who just ran a superfast 1500 two hours earlier. Of course KT is going to want to run. But fatigue is where injuries can happen. I did not see any upside to running this double, and that was before she ran 4:06. She walked off looking visibly exhausted. Hopefully that is all it was.
Give her a break and let bush have her moment!! Nothing wrong with a double, gold and silver at ACC
kelsey chmiel seem to have injured herself from running too many races at indoor too
yalll dont make me nervous !!! shes fine!! she will be fine!!
Do we have to predict an injury every time Tuohy runs fast? NC State workouts are harder than the races.
It's funny she ran the exact same time she did last year 1550
And last year she doubled at regionals after doubling at the conference
nc state loses the 3rd overall team spot to duke after duke women wins 4x400m
nc state 4x400m didnt even toe the line
she didnt ran 4:06 last year
thats the difference, 6 seconds in a 1500m is like probably 20s in a 5000m
*run
