Fisher can do amazing things this year. Even if he doesn't medal at the WC I think he will have what it takes to battle it out till the end of the race.
WTF with all the excuses about why a great run is ng??? So sick of the idiots whining about shoes and outright slandering these people about drugs with no evidence.
I agree and the mods should remove those quotes. It's tiring. Shoes have been progressing since the late 1970's- that's just the way it is.
Drug allegations are uncalled for. If they haven't failed a test then they have to be accepted as clean. When/if they fail, then they're drug cheats.
Roger Clemens and Jeff Bagwell never failed a drug test. You think they were clean?

But to be clear, someone did ask --has he replaced Rupp? Rupp would have easily eclipsed this time in the these shoes. Still amazing and yes shoes are here to stay.

The drug allegations are totally unfounded and without merit. However, the shoes are definitely a game changer. To deny this is to be putting one’s head completely in the sand. Yes, shoes have been improving over the past several decades, but there was no real enhancing impact from the shoes Jim Ryun raced in to the models of even five years ago.
The new foam and carbon plate have made the shoes like drugs themselves. Now, if everyone has access, then no problem, we just need to adjust for records pre- and post- super shoes era. Nike let the genie out of the bottle here, and it ain’t going back in, which I, for one, think is a shame. But, that’s the way it is.
Prior to cheat shoes can barely break 13:30. Might as well have been run on a rotating track. Without the shoes doesn’t break 27:00.

I agree with the drug slander. but the reaction to the track spikes is on par iwth the impact and reaction of the vaporfly. Everything that used to be great looks bad now because of technology

Evidence isn't needed. It's a given in professional sport now.
Says the jealous foreigner who lives in a country where athletes aren't good enough to sniff his farts.

He just ran 26:33. Really a bold prediction there.
He looks better than Rupp. Ahmed is the reigning Olympic Silver Medalist and hes beat him twice in a row now with blazing times.
Ya I'd say he is just better than Rupp now. The dude was just 5th at the olympics. Rupp was 7th at 2011 world championships and the next year silver at London, so it's reasonable to think Fisher could just be making that step into a realistic medalist this year and beyond. He has recently beat Mo twice now, who has a bronze from worlds and a silver from the olympcis. It's funny all the old timers always saying it's the shoes or it's the spikes. Fisher is just better. He is a top 5 guy in the world, maybe top 3 now. A 26:30's 10,000m isn't outrageous for someone who is at that level. The guy also ran 13:30 5k when he was a freshman in college several years ago was 13:10ish a couple years ago, and now has steadily improved to be sub 13 this year. It's not like he came out of nowhere because of super shoes and his placement as one of the best in the world matches his times.

I respect your opinion. I would like to see him run a 10k In vics and see what happens
He wasn't one of the best in the world at age 23 in 2020, after improving 17 seconds in the 5000.

They're not track and field athletes- completely different testing protocol.
I think you're not clean. I think you use peds and you're still not that fast so you're jealous of the people who can achieve beyond your limited talent.

Congrats to Fisher in any event…
I'm not saying they don't help. But, if I go back to my 12 year old self in 1972 and compare even to shoes that aren't super shoes- it's a game changer.
The first shoe I ran in was the New Balance Trackster- the high tech shoe of the day.
A piece of leather with some kind of rubber bottom.
I feel like the super shoes argument is moot. We might as well complain about the runners not running barefoot. Half the point of humans existing is to create things to improve our lives and make us better at whatever we're doing. We don't rail on the accomplishments of programmers or doctors because we have faster computers - instead we celebrate how far technology has come. It's fair to say that the records now might be incomparable to that of Bekele or even Rupp, but there are far too many variables (better training, nutrition, tech outside of just the shoes) to say that it's just the shoes.
