This is more complicating than the BCS.

My Men's Calculations are based off of teams scoring off of AzSt, I guess we will see how the NCAA looks at all the rules.
Romanoski finished ahead of Birne in the midwest 16th.
Anyone care to take a stab at the individual women qualifiers? (Get your minds out of the gutter...it's too easy to merit a smutty reply.)
All the best,
Giles
if you haven't figured it out yet, let's run is apparently a men only website...all they do is trash talk the women and discuss only their races. we should start a women's women's message board

Are having a laugh love? Unless you post racy pictures of the Ziegles in every thread, no one will go on the website.
So, as I understand it, the first 12 spots are set in stone, but the last at large is dependent on whether Butler or Arizona State gets pushed in first. If Butler does, Michigan State goes, and if Arizona State does, Tennessee goes? Am I figuring this correctly?
I'm still struggling with this, I can come up with a scenario where the Great Lakes only gets 5, and I can come up with a scenario where they get 8. I can't see Tennessee not getting in, but surprisingly enough, there's a scenario or two where Loyola stays home. Can anyone help me figure this out?
I just went back and checked my work (calculations only-it's still possible I missed a meet or a team at a meet). I came up with the same scenario. Still slightly unsure on the big multi-team tiebreaks.
On the first big tiebreaker it came down to Tennessee vs Arizona State-all other teams being considered (including the "pusher" Washington-at Regionals, which takes precedence over their win over ASU earlier in the year) lost to one of the two. Cal Poly beat Tennessee at Pre-NCAA, beat Arizona State at Griak, and lost to Arizona State at Regionals. I could not find any other common opponents to separate the two, so Arizona State should win this.
On the tiebreaker for the last spot, Pre-Nationals weekend eliminates all but Princeton, Tennessee and Providence. Providence lost to Duquesne and Arizona State, which both lost to Princeton. Once again, I can find nothing else from common opponents. I have never seen it come down to top individuals before, so I don't know how that'll go.
Some things: Michigan State and Loyola were in different races at Pre-NCAA, also no points can be scored against Butler since they were pushed in.
Here's the link to the NCAA handbook (the first is the pdf-version, which I couldn't get to open-the 2nd is google's cache of the page). See page 12

if it came down to top individuals, it's obvious that TN would be going

No way, Providence is the best of these teams in terms of individuals. If this is some sort of criteria they will go. They have 3 individual qualifiers going to nationals if their team doesn't make it. There team is not that deep so they didn't do well early in the year when a guy or two was not at full strength so they don't have any at large points.
Also, do the current mondo rankings have anything to do with who gets in?? Tennessee has more votes than Princeton and Michigan State.
When do we find out who made the at-large bids?
The rankings have nothing to do with it... there is a link to the NCAA 2005 CC rulebook a few posts above. The rules on qualifying are only a couple of paragraphs. While the rules are a bit complicated to apply, they only take 5 minutes to read.
We find out who the committee selected on Monday. Thay are doing the conference call today.
I'm pretty sure that the people on this thread have it worked out correctly.
If Tennessee doesn't get in, they have 1 individual qualifier, who finished 22 seconds behind the regional winner. Princeton would send 2 individuals, 9 and 10 seconds behind that region's winner. Providence will send 3 individuals, but they have been eliminated from consideration on the previous step (common opp's). Tennessee's top runner did have a higher placing at Pre-Nationals and Regionals. I've been able to come up with the same field the committee did every year since this format has been instituted (after correcting for computational errors-and this doesn't necessarily mean my logic was the same as the committee's), but I have never seen it come down to top individuals before. My gut feeling is Princeton will win the spot, but the committe has a lot of leeway in interpretation, and we have no precedent to look at.

no point for ASU they, were pushed in.
According to the analysis above ASU get in before Wash so they're not pushed.
Bump
the analyisis you refer to is wrong. ASU has beaten nobody already in the meet. Therefore, they have no points. They cannot get into the meet without the push by Washington. So...Nobody gets points for beating ASU...this also uses up the west regional push. If it did not, Cal Poly would Push Oregon in later. But it does. So moot point.
ASU has beaten nobody already in the meet. They have NO POINTS. They cannot get into the meet without UW push. Therefore NOBODY GETS POINTS FOR BEATING ASU.
This also uses up the one push for the west region...if it did not, Cal Poly would push Oregon in.
But, again ASU is DEFINITELY PUSHED....so, moot point.

According to the earlier analysis EMU gets in before Washington whereas you have it the other way round, it all hinges on that decision, why do you put Washington in over EMU?
