Wayzata and SCN were nowhere near top 50 on time but both made it in the championship race due to Wayzata winning NXR and SCN winning Griak. They did a great job with a 1 hour selection show where they announced the qualifiers and talked about the accomplishments of them. I hate when people start threads that are false and then people comment thinking the premise is true.
NXR will never recover because this course is superior to any that I have seen before.
What is false? If you open the spreadsheet the individuals are literally sorted top to bottom based on time. A slight accommodation for altitude is made for some runners.
I don’t have any hate for the meet. It’s fantastic that they have such a great course capable of accommodating so many runners. It’s equally great that they stepped up to run the race last year and this year in such difficult times. It’d just be nice if they could in future years change the messaging around how kids and teams are evaluated.
If the message keeps being that teams need to go find fast courses and meet directors are increasingly under pressure to make courses a little (or a lot) short and still call them 5k, that is unfortunate.
