It doesn't matter who he (Salazar) had in mind, that's his mind not Rupp's.
That makes zero sense.
So Rupp was totally clean throughout all of his years training with Salazar?
I guess it’s a possibility. Lol

This (+1). I’d add the likes of Steve Jones and Charlie Spedding to the names you’ve mentioned.
They don't work. Google for the research articles.
Appalling camera work by NBCSN. Tura finished and they kept the camera trained on him instead of capturing Rupp finishing. And then they spent 20 minutes straight with a monomaniacal focus on Chepngetich instead of cutting out for a few seconds here and there to show the top 10 men finishing. Why must marathon tv coverage always suck??? Like, always.

It's been going on for so long that it's almost stupid to complain about, but they do this every single time! Absolutely cannot be people remotely familiar with the sport deciding the camera work. And how hard is it to do a PIP during commercials or when switching races? They did it during the Olympics and now they can't? I almost prefer just reading the recaps to watching the races sometimes, because at least I don't get infuriated when they completely miss a break because they're interviewing the women's wheelchair winner with no PIP or something.

Very solid 2:15* marathon debut for 3:57 miler Jacob Thompson.
Rupp's 2:06* is only a half minute off his PR, surely a conditions-converted PR. He only needs to show up in this same shape for a time trial setup to get the AR.
TME's Reed Fisher in 2:14* .. meh .. still not living up to his 1:01 half.
* tougher conditions
What should a 2:14 convert to in terms of a half? 2:09?

i can respect all the talent rupp has and the work he puts in, but i just don't really find his career that compelling. too much coddling and science experiment gray area stuff for me to actively cheer for him. props to him for grinding an incredible race today after a short break and bad conditions though. probably the most respect i've had for him in a race. was not a fan of the sit-and-kick track performances. and yes, i know he's not the only one to do that. i just prefer a bekele-style, whip it out and dare anybody to challenge you style of racing.
Rupp is the closest thing we have to a '70s-'80s Rodgers, Salazar or a Beardsley right now. He's not perfect but he's our one threat against the other countries.

Chepngetich just flew by Chris Derrick lol
She allegedly blew by her own male pacer...could he not keep up?
It was hysterical (if it wasn't so embarrassing) to hear that idiot Hutchings pompously pronounce at the end of the broadcast that 'The US is clearly the number three superpower in distance running now.'
This just after watching a prime US marathon in which we had exactly ONE American man break 213:30, for Chrissakes.
I guess Tim hasn't been conscious the last ten years or so, but the Japanese are SO far ahead of us (at least in the men's marathon) now, it's an absolute joke.
If we held a marathon dual-meet, the Japanese 'D' team would crush our top guys without breaking a sweat.
Rupp is ALL we have. I guess we'll see if anyone manages to alter that impression a little bit tomorrow. I wouldn't hold my breath, though.
Kofuzi ran 3:14:44 (went through the half in 1:34:36).

Jordan Tropf is a god - 73:46 at halfway.
Shalane Flanagan - 83:19 at halfway.
Who wore it best?
Tropf: 73:46 + 78:08 = 2:31:54
Flanagan: 83:19 + 83:20 = 2:46:39
Flanagan with the superior effort
Joe Bosshard starts to know what he looks like he's doing with training, and Bates with great execution.

Go Rupp Go!
Like I respect him amazingly but him winning is like too much for my brain to handle with the Salazar stuff.
I'm glad he was excited to do so well. He was very emotional.
He and Pinkowski must be close. He just kissed race director Carey Pinkowski!!! I've always wondered why h e comes to Chicago and not NY every year. That may play a role.
Can't believe I'm defending Rupp here, but BTC is the Nike team that had an actual athlete got popped, not NOP. Being anti-Rupp is fine, but then you should also be at least as anti-Shelby. 🤷♂️

Half a year ago, both were highly suspicious. Now one of them got popped. Drug cheats out!
