Even Kenyans don't believe this guy can be clean.https://www.pulselive.co.ke/news/another-company-parts-ways-with-kenyan-sprinter-omanyala/vyzyd77 LRC Note. There were two threads on this. We've merged them into 1. Here is what LRC co-founder Robert Johnson wrote on the matter. He's the African record holder at 100m but can't seem to find a major sponsor. Some local betting company sponsors him but he has no shoe deal. Early in the year, he was running a singlet of a sports management company DBA Africa but they had a falling out with him. They just stated that they terminated the contract with Omanyala. Omanyala said something different. He said he didn't work with them any more as they weren't registered with World Athletics.
The Nation wrote:
“The core values of DBA Africa are hugely important and must be upheld by all involved within the company. Unfortunately if our athletes do not maintain our same values at all times, we are no longer able to work successfully together,” she (DBA Africa Director, Storm Trentham) said.
“As you can imagine, to terminate a contract when the athlete is in his prime and performing on the world stage, speaks volumes about how important we feel it is to protect our brand and the professional image we proudly share with the sporting world," she added.
Additionally, the PR/legal firm that used to represent him and helped get him into the Olympics despite his past doping violation no longer does. Now their parting statement is a little bit more kind to Omanyala, "However, we also understand when it’s time to leave in order to allow our former client the space to grow and take charge of his own destiny.”
Is this just an example of an athlete getting really big and wanting something bigger? Or do these company's have serious concerns?
