Nice run!
Nice run!
Did she retire too soon? A respectful time if she was just hobby hogging for her five 'Thons in 42 days.
Huge negative split - 1:23.42/1:14.50
Really impressive. Got to think she was holding back a little for London next week
respect
was expecting her to run all of them in 2:59
She’s Joan Benoit 2.0- 25 years of an aerobic base can carry you far. She could break a lot of age group records in the future
Isn't Joan Benoit her mother? Her mother was a famous marathoner as well.

Age records? Shalane finished two places ahead of a 50yo German woman.
I thought she announced her retirement
She finished right behind me. Good thing she wasn't trying!
Not bad. The real harbinger of how she's going to handle this challenge will be her next marathon. She was fresh for this one. She'll still be healing up and won't be fresh for the next one (... I mean, unless she's doping big time, which she might).

Flanagan's out of the testing pool, she very well could have trotted on over to her neighborhood anti-aging clinic and got the friendly doc to toss her a script for hGH, testosterone, and a steroid cream. And how's her thyroid doing these days?

Gwen Jorgensen's Youtube video from a few months ago had Flanagan doing mile repeats with other elites. I recall she did all but last 2 or something like that. She is definitely doing more than recreational running.

She could probably beat Jordan right now.

Yeah she ran really conservatively through 15k before opening it up. Kastor has the master's AR at 2:27:47. Would be fun to see her take a crack at that after knocking out all of these races.

Don't forget the burritos.
You’d think the American feed would have mentioned her. I never looked up the leaderboard since I was a zombie watching the race so early. That neg split was incredible. Looking forward to the mile by mile stats of some guy dressed as a shark running for “charity” at NYC.
So basically, Flanagan could come back to pro running and actually compete with the other American women if she wanted to. Huge negative split in a race knowing she has five more marathons coming up this fall.. sounds like she could still run under 2:30.
she went flying past literally hundreds of runners, activated a few y chromosomes. but don‘t think anyone hing with her
