I think you've maybe conflated a disdain for NBC's caricaturistic flattening of an American legend's personality with a disdain for the actual athlete. While it is impressive and inspiring that she's able to perform at an elite level while raising a family, the media's need to mention it every time she comes up becomes kinda worn after the 100th iteration. Like I get it, she's an Olympic HERo, but she's also one of the best US sprinters ever and it'd be nice if that portion of her identity got spotlighted maybe once during the multi-week coverage. The Olympics are the biggest track meet in the world though, perhaps that's not the right spot to highlight her athletic accolades.
