She should've just dropped out and saved her powder for the 5k later in the day. That's a big effort, gives a big leg up to anyone else in the 5
That was nuts - on the bell lap too!
The rest of the field should have started kicking right then and not given her a chance to make it back. She's guaranteed to make the final so not doing so means one girl may lose a spot out of the semis.
Way to do it and not quit!!
That was awesome to watch. Sucks it happened, but to watch her battle back and actually WIN.
Sheesh
That was incredible.
If Hassan is injured because of this, the girl who caused the tumble should be banned for life from competing.
Come on. Superhuman performance. She will crush every event she’s in and nobody can do anything about it. She will win every heat as well…
the play by play guy and some posters here need to realize that most of these girls can't just run 4:05 1500s at will. and they certainly can't run 60-62 second final laps on command.

Let's not get carried away. She ran about 13 seconds slower than her pr. That last lap was not particularly quick. She get's nearly 12 hours of rest before the 5k final. Frankly, the final is not likely to be a time trial so I think she will be fine.

Look at a replay. It was a chain reaction. The first two women got too close to each other. One of them had to break stride just the least little bit. Everyone behind had to adjust. And the rest is history.

Clever, but no one was looking behind them and I doubt most of them even knew Hassan had fell until after they finished. And I would think everyone in front of her was far too focused anyway on finishing the heat in qualifying position. Plus, I think several of the also-rans actually WERE kicking, and their finish was the best they could do.
