I think her next update will be that she’s retiring from professional running and becoming a Peloton (or competitor) instructor. I actually think it’d be a good fit.
Gwen Jorgensen runs the 5,000m and 10,000m Trials despite slim odds of making Tokyo in either event: Is bullied mercilessly on LetsRun.
Colleen Quigley scratches from the steeplechase, citing some injury issues in her buildup: Is bullied mercilessly on LetsRun.
Men don’t get this kind of abuse on the Boards. (How many threads are there calling Evan Jager a coward or a “head case”?)
It can’t just be about the BTC or about the athletes’ looks — Emily Infeld, Marielle Hall, and Vanessa Fraser didn’t really factor in their races either and none have had a half dozen weird and sexist threads this week alone.
What LetsRun’s most misogynistic posters hate about certain female athletes is that some have the nerve to try and make a real living for themselves via savvy social media and non-running endeavors (see also: Alexi Pappas).
Gentlemen, I understand that it bothers you to see a woman do something other than running in circles for your amusement, but I have faith that you can look deep inside yourselves and realize that no one can annoy you without your permission!
Smash that “unfollow” button if you can’t deal with a woman pitching massage guns or books or whatever else pays athletes’ bills.
Have a blessed day and Go Team USA!
Is this like a white knight / simp thing you are doing?
How does one “simp” on an anonymous message board? lmao
It’s a sad state of affairs that society had to invent a whole new insult to describe “men who treat women like equals.”

My two cents is that it's actually a LOT of females on this board tearing down CQ. Women tend to be more vicious than men in that regard.

Lol, you actually think that there are a LOT of women on this message board? Yea right. Anyways, women can be misogynistic as well. It's a useful behavior in a society that rewards relentless criticism of women.
this is a stupid post.
male athletes are criticized endlessly on lrc. Hocker's form is being hammered on, chelimo's drift is getting grief, brazier is called a choker.
No one is being bullied here - CQ is being open about her mental issues, as were pappas and cain. If you somehow think it's not ok to talk about the same mental issues these women bring up themselves...I'm not sure what it means to be a fan of the sport.
Notice that all the things you just listen about men refer to their running and racing on the track, while the women you mention their "mental issues."
Telling on yourself...

There is a significant pattern with letsrun posters really disliking women who aren't quiet enough or soft-spoken enough or women who try daring things (like Gwen), or try to stand out in other ways. I agree that men sometimes get lambasted because this is a site that loves to do just that. But it doesn't change the fact that women like Colleen Quigley, Gwen, Alexi and even Jenny get torn down for making unladylike choices like promoting themselves or speaking their minds.
Just another "look at me" moment.
