Well, better late than never!
Near as I can tell, at the end of 2021 Jacobs was a clear #1 with his insane Olympic final win, at 9.80 BASIC.
That was a smoking final, with all medalists on the above list at spots 1, 4, and 8. Their performances are possibly better than even those places indicate, as #2 Bromell and #4 Omanyala are ahead of them, but with runs at 468m of elevation. Bromell would have been in the mix anyway and Omanyala not far off the list, so I left the marks set in Nairobi.
Check out Su, tied for #6, and not far behind the leader, at 9.87.
ADG had an incredible OG, setting a PB, both basic and raw, in the final, at an excellent 9.89
And WTF Young at 9.90. He had a few great performances in 2021, but didn't go anywhere in the OG.
Simbine was consistent all year and did well in the final, but his basic best was 9.90, tied for #9 on the year.
So there you have it, the top 10 basic for 2021. Next year we need to watch for guys like Omanyala, tied for #4 in 2021, Bednarek at 9.93, Blake at 9.95, Norman and Adegoke (who made the OG final) at 9.98, Lyles at 10.01, as well as all the Africans behind Simbine like Leotlela and Maswanganyi both at 10.04 basic, Azamati-Kwaku at 10.05
Americans still dominated the top-10, getting 5 of the spots. Africa got 2, and 1 each to Italy, China, and Canada.
On to 2022!
