If you're not disciplined enough to get up early and train you're not going to be great anyway.

I'm super impressed with Hehir. That's a fantastic time. I was there and can attest the race conditions and course were PERFECT. I'm surprised someone like Fauble or Ward who ran a low 2:09 at Boston couldn't muster something faster. That course, with those conditions was at least 2 minutes faster than when Ward and Fauble broke 2:10 at Boston.
I would be very curious to see how Hehir is doing in med school. A tiny fraction of med students could put that much time into extracurricular and still do well. Med school is freaking competitive. You've got a group of kids with an average IQ of 125 that all know how work hard. It takes an incredibly high IQ to excell and spend that much time and energy running. I could have passed med school and thoseconditions, but it would not be pretty.
Scott Fauble is too busy tweeting to worry about running.
Shame it always has to be a part of the conversation these days but what did Fauble run in, Cliftons?! Can’t help but wonder what the result would’ve been had he been rolling a different brand.
What happened to Jared Ward?
Should the results from the 2020 Marathon Trials still count for the 2021 games? I think Sara Hall is now the best American marathon runner. Choosing a team 19 months out seems not to make sense any more.

Wow, really going out on a limb there fella. I've been saying it since before the trials, where you been...waiting for concrete evidence, then chiming in? Late too the party, eh?
Yep, I am a band wagon jumper.
They did!

Wow what a finish! I truly hope NBCSN shows Droddy’s full puke explosion later!
Probably not since none of these guys are actually competitive on the world stage? I’m a big hehir fan and especially Bennie bc I’m a MA guy, but realistically these guys are irrelevant. I follow them bc I’m interested in national level runners but the fact that they run 209 instead of 211 doesn’t change the fact that the top guys are running <205.
I hope this doesn’t come across as a dig at any of these guys, because I’m happy for all of them and enjoy watching them, but American distance running is not suddenly redeemed because a bunch of mediocre 2830 10k guys finally ran marathons commensurate with their mediocre talent
I second this post. Although the race might have been a step forward in the right direction, it proved there is still a huge gap between the World best. (Even bigger than few years ago)
Some ‘fans' think they are 'adding to the sport’ by ignoring the alarm and not addressing what the real issues are.
I mean, should we praise the accomplishment? Yes. Does it mean we shouldn’t be criticizing when we are left behind? I guess this would depend on your expectation.

Pretty sobering when you realize that the winner of the men's race - among the top American marathoners, on a pancake flat course, in perfect conditions - ran a time that barely cracks the top TWO THOUSAND fastest marathons ever run.

http://www.alltime-athletics.com/mmaraok.htmI generally enjoy the LetsRun Race recaps, but these "What about the shoes" comments are getting really old. There were five brands in the men's top ten.. I'd say the playing field is basically level at this point. And none of the time were all that astonishing by historical standards. Yet, the writes here just keep hammering this shoe thing. Knock it off already.
Out of the 100 or so people running, I don't think I saw a single person not wearing one of the new tall stack height/plate shoes (I was there watching). So give it up already. It's done.. move on. Worse than CNN's non-stop Coronavirus chatter.
Hehir does say that "we still have a ways to go....."

Seriously!! Or pay $12/month and skip a couple trips to Chipotle every other week. Everybody complaining that they don't get everything for free...yet they want top-notch coverage, and the athletes to be taken care of & compensated...smh
$12 is the cost of 2 beers at your local pub ... which you piss away literally within a few hours.
I guess the guy making the crazy complaining isn’t buying the next round..?
You are all missing the point. To watch the running events you have to pay for many separate services, Flotrack, Runnerspace, USATFtv, NBC sports package/cable etc. If you got to see all professional races for $12/month, no one would be complaining!
Who should fund it? All of you crybabies wanting the next guy to pay for your enjoyment. Nobody is getting rich off of track and field streaming. They are lucky to break even.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
