Mt Sac is not a 5K course
15:49 on hilly 3-mile course.
Why post here, instead on the thread about Hutchins' 15:58 CC race?
Watched online Lane's win in 1600m at Stanford Invite.
Early in the 1600m race, I was convinced--if coaching in NCAA-- that I would offer a scholarship to the runner around 2nd, even though at that time Lane had a big lead on this other girl. But I would not offer Lane a scholarship.
Near the end of the Stanford 1600m, that girl in 2nd made up a lot of the gap, and ran a good time with good running form while getting 2nd. She looked like she could become a great runner in D1, that is if she is in a great program with very good coaches. I found out that girl was Maddy Denner, who is now at ND.
Lane's running form seems the result of over-training, which may explain her injury. Not much upside for that kind of running form, so Lane might enjoy 6K CC college races, but on the track she is likely to be looking at the 10K and she will only be 20-21 years of age. A degree from Dartmouth is a big deal, so that is good news for Lane, but it is not clear how Lane will do when she resumes her running career.
