Ryan hall is the second most overrated runner this website loves, the first being Alan Webb.
Rupp is an actual winner.
Hall/Webb/Ritz paved the way for Centro and Rupp

They didn't pave a darn thing.
Centro and Rupp went out there themselves and won medals and made the US relevant again on the world stage.

Looks like they’re racing sometime tomorrow morning. They won’t have a livestream for the full race just to keep it under wraps (which I guess makes sense?) but hope to livestream the finish
"Makes sense" that no one is live streaming it?? How does that make sense?
Of course it makes no sense...Even if there had been advertising and livestreaming how many people would actually come out to watch in person on a Friday morning? Where is there risk in a couple dozen (maybe?) people spread out on an outdoor course?
Not sure why people are discrediting Rupp. He came back from injury and laid waste to the field at the Olympic Trials with a sub-2:10 performance on a hilly AF course on a windy day. Anything over 60 would be a disappoint today.
Rupp won’t break 60 mins. Long past his best and a career tainted by AS.

The Michigan Pro Half that just took place Wednesday was advertised weeks (months?) in advance, and it looked like 3 folks showed up. And they were just there to take their daily walk in the park where the event took place. To not take advantage & live stream todays run is exactly what we'd expect.
Ryan Hall's coach wants Ryan to keep the record. Galen doesn't stand a chance.!

I'm not a fan of the secrecy, but considering it is taking place in a very liberal area, I suspect they are indeed serious about any issues with COVID. I'm holding out that there will be a last minute stream. But maybe they will actually have real video equipment and produce something nice in the coming days.

This is BS...why can't these guys compete against the rest of the US runners?? Holding time trials is exactly what Nike wants and hurts our sport.
Think of all the AR recently out of the Nike camp, all run in an incubator. If everyone had the ability to show up at anyone's race I believe Bowerman/NOP(or whatever they are now) would look way less dominant. Think Chicago(Men), Millrose(Women).
These "events" just widen the gap between the Nike darlings and the rest of the US running world. Funnels more resources into the chosen few and then we wonder why no one else in the US is world class during post season. Running should be about competition NOT TIME TRIALS!!
Congruency test: does this mean that you are not happy with Kipchoge's sub 2hr marathon? That was less about competition and more about time trials

Because they were smart and held it mid week, people work and kids have school (online or not). If they had held it on a weekend things would have been much different.
From the Eugene Marathon Twitter:
"The remote location and course design make a full livestream impossible. We’ll be covering the race here and on our Instagram. We also hope to go live for the finish."

How much different?? And the fact this is on a Friday morning vs. mid week makes what difference?

Ryan Hall is indeed overrated.
Rupp has been with a doping, cheating coach since he was a teenager.
Race starts at 10am PST

I was talking about the Stoney Half. But...yes, it certainly does make a difference in Oregon as it's still a workday. The same things that I listed apply to Oregon, no different. Truly sorry that you can't see that.
I guess the difference now is its a time trial, rather than running to win, or just tuning up for a race. I cant see any other reason for doing this.
Based on how Rupp instigated it, I'm guessing he had a few good workouts that indicated he was in great shape. Or he's just really bored and wants to do something different.
air quality not great here, AQI ~70, wonder if Rupp will even start...
