For decades, they've had multiple runners on the track who provide a wind buffer for leaders, perform pacemaking duties for over 50% of the race, and drop out when their duties are done.
But you're mad about a bunch of lights?

Wavelight bothers people? Why? I love wavelight. I just did a zoom call with his agent for the supporters club. They will have wavelight. You might as well ban pacers if you are going to ban wavelight.
Anyway, we have to adapt and evolve. I guess the same can be said with the shoes but what bothered me most about the shoes was that the shoes in 2016 were in violations of the rules and were secret and even made to look like shoes that everyone else had so no one would know they were illegal and no one did a damn thing about it.
So why isn't kipchoge's 1:59 marathon the record now?
To me if Cheptegei runs let's say 26:15 with the wave light. Bekele's run will be superior to me. He is going to have to smash it with the wave light to be a better performance. There are just too many psychological advantages with the lights. The light adds gray area to historical performances superiority. There are a ton of people that think bekele's 12:37 was superior to Joshua's 12:35 because of it. But like Shelby houlihan said in your interview she purposefully wore victory spikes so that no one could speculate why she ran 10 seconds faster than her or. It's all on her.
All that being said if. Rhonex is in shape and in the race they won't even need pacers or anything to challenge.
I hope he can get the WR. Pacers and lights are fine with me. Just want to see a 10K WR.
26:13

It allows for perfect pacing, it gives you the average pace that you need to produce for a certain time. No uneven lap times, and also removes a big mental part of pushing against an invisible ghost, the clock. Now you can race against the average pace of that race. That combined with the new cheater shoes makes me sick. I will take no joy if he breaks the WR, knowing it was done with completely different conditions and with mechanical doping, just like the 5k. Sad reality.
Wavelight does cheapen the records because it takes away a lot of the difficulty in holding pace by giving you a constant visual record of how fast to go every second. Pacers don't do that, especially not in a 10k that would have to be paced evenly in 13:08 to get the record. Joshua Cheptegei is absolutely the real deal and I see him getting this record by a lot with good weather. They should really have chosen a spot with guaranteed great weather but if he could run 12:35 in Monaco on a warm day, he can run 26:10 on a cooler day, and Rhonex Kipruto would be great for the race. One thing that gets me here is seeing Jos Hermens in that video. To know that Cheptegei has Global for its representation gives me no hope that this is clean.
I hope LOTS of top runners run this, not to try to race Cheptegui, but to be dragged to a fast time, How about Ahmed the Canadian who just ran 12:47 for the 5000, Maybe Rupp to try to lower his 26:44 personal Best, Lots of Kenyans and Ethiopians trying to join the Sub 27 Club.

Now Douglas you must know that Galen would likely be lapped by Cheptegei. There is almost no chance that Galen could break 27:20 now.

So the 5k WR road and track will both be set in Monaco. The 10k WR road and track will both be in Valencia.
Enjoy it while it lasts. This Valencia statistic will take a significant turn at the end of the year.
Well... it was fun while it lasted, Bekele. This is what I like about other sports, where some records will never be broken. No one will touch Lebron's playoff points total once he's done, and no one will touch soooooo many of Tiger's records.
Cheptegei will destroy this WR at some point

I'm a bit each way on pacer lights.
Real pacers still require pace judgement and are often either too fast or too slow.
The lights take away the biggest single negative factor in time trialling
We know there have been runners capable of faster times, however they rarely get the pace exactly right. With the lights, such a runner just has to sit a metre behind the light all the way

hmmm, what are you suggesting here? Has Rhonex been busted?

The funny thing is even if that mark were DQ'd, the road 10k record would be... Joshua Cheptegei from a different course in Valencia.
Bowerman Group will pace through 5k

This is awesome! My guess is that Kiplimo will be the surprise guest. Kipruto would be epic too. I predict 26:12, but something insane like 26:0x could happen as well. There's even a non-zero chance that he can break 26 which would absolutely set this forum on fire.
Unlikely Kiplimo or Kipruto will be the special guest. Why??
Kiplimo is not managed by Global and is a Rosa athlete.
Kipruto is even an Adidas athlete vs Global(NN) who are Nike athletes
Kamworor if he's fit would be a great addition, or someone else from the NN/Global camp. Maybe Barega?

And you will literally need to set Seb Coe and every drug tester on fire if he is to keep his laserlight clown shoe WR
