That sounds inappropriate.

Brooks Beasts Instagram says he's only training with the team and documenting it, may get a spot at the end of the year. So he's basically on trial.
It seems like part of the deal is that he has to document the trial period. Given Spencer’s YouTube following it’ll likely be good marketing for the Beasts. Maybe they’re hoping to follow Tinman in gaining more of an online following.
Congratulations to Spencer and good luck in future races.
I'd like to see more footage off the track like what they eat for a post-workout meal and what the city is like.

+1 you watched the video

You really just wanna hate on him...he’s a sub 4 miler a 3:39 1500 guy and a 1:48 800
He's a 3:39.94 1500 meter runner and has a 3:59.97 for indoor mile as a PB, and his 800 is 1:49.12 . His times have been run in high school before. I thought his time trial was unimpressive, I don't care if he did it at altitude (1:50.5 hand time).
He really needs to get stronger and faster. Professionals have run 1:50 before in the middle of a workout.
What I don't understand is whether this is a trial period, or whether Spencer has actually signed for Brooks. I am confused because Spencer's IG suggests it is the latter, whereas Brooks' IG suggests it is the former. Perhaps he is on a short term/year long contract, but that's not really clear from either post. Pretty poor PR coordination I think.
Didn't Sage outkick this guy in their video together?

Maybe in his dreams.
Nice walk-on you absolute LOSER. HAHAHAH
Read the thread: he has to hit certain standards to attain full-time pro status w Brooks
https://twitter.com/jgault13/status/1296576400670035971?s=20
Wonder what those standards are 3:37/1:48?
What's with all the bitterness? Good for him.
Clearly, a big part of this has to do with his YouTube and social media talent.
That is (and should be) a big selling point for Brooks -- it can help their bottom line.
Congrats to the Athlete Special. Not a bad deal to have a trial year and build out his personal/brooks beast brand. Gets some free gear. Does it mean that his running shorts line is dead?
So it’s essentially a win win for both sides. It increases Browns YouTube Channel views and gives Brooks more exposure through his videos.
If the deal is like Gault describes it, then Spencer maybe shouldn't appear so cocky when telling YouTube about it.
Congrats, though. Good for him.
It sounds not too different from Matt Fitzgerald training with the NAZ Elite, only with the possibility to sign with Brooks after the trial.
...
What Spencer says: "I did something about it (...) I joined the Brooks Beasts."
What Brooks Beasts say: "Excited to have @TheAthleteSpecial pack his bags in Boulder and move to Seattle to train alongside the team for the next year! He’ll be using his platform to share the highs & lows of what it’s like to train as a professional Brooks athlete with the end goal of earning a @brooksbeaststc singlet.
I don't care for the guy but with 60k youtube subscribers, it's a smart move for Brooks.
Normally its pretty tough to get people stare at your product for 10 minutes a few times a week, but TAS will make it happen.
This is a win-win for Brooks. They basically get a popular vlog for their group which will be flattering and bring in his audience. Expectations are not sky-high for him. He PRs a couple of seconds and they look golden.
I’m sure we’ll get more details over time. Sounds like he signed a contract with Brooks until the end of 2021. No idea what the standards will be, but a good move for both parties.
What does this mean for Spencer’s clothing line? Can’t sell them? Can sell them if they’re brooks clothing?
