Actually, BLM and some of the anti-liberal left movements discussed in this thread have far more repressive ideas than you realize. I am pretty far left, politically, but some of the ideas forwarded are scary.
BLM wants to defund the police. You can see this on their website. You'll find that people saying, "defund the police" doesn't mean what you think it means. Then they'll give you a description that looks a lot like what we would call police reform. But, the point is that language is manipulated so that you're not quite sure what these activists intend. They want to have it both ways.
Same with the term racism, which is now used to refer to explicit acts of racism, a murky combination of history and current policies that disadvantage black people, and a quasi-religious concept describing the subjectivity of non-black people. This flexible terminology is very useful for radicals and people on power trips. They can create a framework saying that all non-black people are racist by virtue of being born with particular immutable identity characteristics in a racist culture, and that black people cannot be racist. They'll tell you that racism, in this sense, isn't referring to KKK-style white supremacy. They'll even go a step further and say that black people cannot be racist. However, these so-called anti-racists also know that people can lose their jobs over being called racist, so they're rightfully terrified of the label. Not to mention that most people are against racism as it's commonly understood. This framework is great for emotional manipulation, as it depends on that moving definition of racism. Likewise, it manipulates otherwise ethical people into believing that they are morally flawed because of their race. Psychopathic and power hungry people who happen to be black can then abuse non-black people, all the while claiming that they can't possibly be engaged in racism because racism = power + prejudice, and black people have no power. Except, this anti-racism framework just rigged the game to give them power.
Similar things are happening with sex & gender. This is why JK Rowling is being mobbed on Twitter and in the popular press. She's being called a Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminist (TERF), despite her explicitly stated support for trans people, because she believes that biological sex is real.
The illiberal left is trying to push an anti-science and totalitarian ideology onto well-meaning people in the name of social justice. If you don't believe that all non-black people are racist, or you think human beings are sexually dimporphic, it's because you're an ignorant racist, transphobic, privileged, etc. In reality, you're a heretic. You don't buy into their rigid worldview (which is filled with contradictions, BTW), so you're bad.
Don't drink the Flavorade!
This is a very insightful post.
