Can someone show me a DQ when a runner was in Lane 1 and another runner tried to pass on the inside.
Rojo--"You're supposed to run a straight line home." Is that what is in the IAAF rulebook? Simpson stayed in her lane....inside, outside, she has the lane. I thought the rule was you had to have a step to cut in.....never heard of rules for inside passing.

Jenny won the race--not by much, but she won the race. I like both Jenny and Shannon and I'm happy Jenny got the title. I actually though Hassan was going to win.
Her reply to SOCAL is negative. She is agreeing that she was #robbed. She wasn't 'robbed' of anything, she lost the race.

Incredible. Two athletes all out to the finish line with minimal contact and people are really calling for a DQ? Both athletes should be applauded for the way they ran. Really couldn't have asked for a closer more competitive race.

You have to feel bad for Rowbury, she is often close to greatness, but denied - always losing by just a bit.
It must be frustrating to know that there is always another american women that will beat her.

Even though this is not true, she is allowed to do that. It is the advantage of being in the lead. Look at most of the races: The leader starts working their way out, often into lane 3. Happens all the time. This race was not even close to any disqualification and in fact Rowbury's feet were ahead of Jenny's, but Jenny had the much better lean.

Can't believe this thread blew up like it did! Watching the sl-mo front shot, it does seem like MAYBE Jenny's arm goes wider than her normal stride right as Shannon is about to pass, and Shannon hooks it with her normal arm carry. That said, I think Jenny's arm is going wide because she is actually starting to fall on her own. It seems like she is leaning too much for too long (probably sensed that runners were gaining on her) and she just starts to lose her balance and go down. That hooked up Rowbury and then Shannon had to dive. I think Shannons dive was more from getting tangled and trying to avoid a falling Jenny than to dive for the win as she is actually diving after the line it seems.
Shannon is lucky she didn't hit her head on the rail, she just missed it.

There was lateral separation, and they were side by side. Rowbury was besde her, so Simpson had no right to move in. She also had no right to throw out an arm block, which impeded Rowbury, the reason why Simpson should be disqualified. Rowbury was not leaning. She fell because Simpson whacked her three times with her arm, holding her back, and her body couldn't keep up with her feet. The impact is evident when you watch the video from the side.

Jenny had the lead from almost 500m out to the finish. Good win for her, and she did the work required to get this winning result. Down the straight Jenny was established as the leader and she was in lane one. Shannon's decisions in the last lap resulted in her trying to pull off a desperation move at the end and snake by on the inside. She got what she deserved. I like both of these runners. No DQ is in order. Not even close. Shannon's coach should advise her to "get off the rail and pressure the leader off her right shoulder. If you stay on inside down the straight your options are limited. The contact and fall were your fault. You should apologize to Jenny."
