So the pace isn't fast for Kipchoge.
But what is surprising me is this. He's leading into the wind. The first thing I thought was, "Did he not learn antyhing from Breaking 2? Drafting matters."
If you just woke from a long coma, you might think, "Why is that guy named Kipchoge racing in the biggest, clunkiest training shoes you've ever seen ???"
I'm all in favour of para athletics but these wheelchair races are not really races, they're both complete processions, it's like watching traffic. They should either make these races deep enough to be competitive or only cut to them when they come into finish.
I think we all know why these categories are included
Lead pack at 2:30 pace, opens the door for more winners. Granted, you'll probably still have to haul @ss for the finish, but seems to open the door marginally for someone who might not have been a clear favorite.

He's getting the pace moving early, which suits him more than it does anyone else. And he's leading on the downhill when it's easiest with gravity doing some of the work for him. He's now moving back and letting others take the lead.
One negative thing I noticed about the early footage was the overpronation from Kipchoge. I guess that's one disadvantage of the racing supershoes - they don't come in a stability version. Fingers crossed he isn't injuring himself.
The second 5k was run at 2:03:02 pace, exactly the CR and back to a pace that at least one other runner in the race has run before. Kinda looks like it’s easing back further.
